Fighting Game Bosses Fan Art Tribute Project

Hello,

some of you saw my other thread about a MK related fan art project already ..i am not sure if this should be here now or in the graphics section - a mod/admin can decide -

Well, there is a second fan art project now and it is meant as a tribute to 35 fighting game bosses which include the popular ones like M.Bison, Heihachi Mishima, Geese Howard or Shao Kahn, also "semi" popular ones like Jedah, True Ogre, Gill, Orochi, and Inferno (Soul Calibur) and some rather obscure ones ranging down even to Supervisor and Sett-Rah from the "gems" Rise of the Robots and Shaq Fu.

As a little joke 3 fighting game producers, Ono, Harada and Boon are also a part of this fan art project.

35 artists, all from deviantart are participating so far, like with the mk project before there are amateurs and more professional people involved. Its never my target to make something like a Udon tribute group with chosen fanart by people which hope to get known trough it and sometimes never played even the game the tribute book is about.

If someone is here who can draw - not as a professional - but with the motivation to create something more than stickman with a skullcap and call it teh Psycho Vega and wants to participate, he would be welcome. if not but if you like fan art, enjoy

Its the first fan art of Abyss related to mvc2 i have ever seen and as such i like it already that he draw all three forms of him..reminds me how easy he was to kill with a team including cable

Some more entries were submitted now, and Boon and Harada are getting ..fanarts..probably portraits..i dont know..i recommended to just draw big eyebrows for boonand a face around it

yeah i absolutly agree with you, the true ogre one is very good, i liked eyedol as well

its overwhelming for me that i can bring artists  with such talent to draw these characters which dont get many fan art - especially of this quality - normally.

The artist who draw TrueOgre just claimed Supervisor from fucking... rise of the robots (she was a part of my list of 35 "able to claim" bosses for this project)

I guess even Mr Big from AoF and Sett-Rah from Shaq -Fu will be drawn.

while i myself just give the ideas and organize these fan art projects + made the platform with ga-hq to showcase them beside on DA i have to admit gbk is a proud son of a bitch when he sees the results of the two fanart projects so far.

tomorrow i work on the galleries for these pictures on ga-hq and hope to come up with something which gives these artworks some justice.

Which ones would you add?

The problem is, i could make a list with 100 characters, but would i find 100 artists in a certain time like two months? that are some of the things you have to think about when you start a project

At overclocked remix, the site for video game music remixes nearly half of their projects get scrapped because in the first week everyone is like "yay awesome" and some days later the organizer has only 3 musicans for 20 tracks ..thats at least what ocr remixers told me about the situation there when i mentioned that OCR was a inspiration for me and these fanart projects

35 boss characters are really enough for a project, especially when its the first of this kind and the community isnt used to those ..before it i did contests

umm yeah..nice unknown i guess but to participate in this project you would have to claim the character first and maybe do some finetuning and coloring to that image

well i thought i update this thread since a lot progress was made and some entries are simply damn awesome.

Even the most obscure character i chosed for this project got drawn very well as seen with the Geegus one as example

43 entries are submitted now, another 20 are in the works. Even obscure chracters like Fernandez and...fucking Supervisor got drawn for the fan art project and again some of the entries are looking  really good

Next year a street fighter tribute project starts in februar, nearly 200 artists will participate.
