Errors on CNS file

I'm making a character using the Winane AI template and when i name and create the CNS file i get this:

Error message
Could not open file: player.cns
Error loading chars/char/char.def
Error loading p1

When i rename the .cns and edit the .def file so its player, I get this:

Error message
Could not open file: char.cns
Error loading chars/char/char.def
Error loading p1

And it repeats over and over when i switch the files.

Quit fighter factory. Load the .def in notepad. Name the files as they appear in your folder. Creating a file in fighter factory annoyingly does not mean it can see that file. If you quit it and look in the folder you'll be able to see what you actually have for files.

I redefine the files in notepad and i get this:

Error message
Error while loading loading chars/char/chars.def
Error while precaching
Error in char.cmd 

I also redine it and i still get it.
