So im interested in purchasing an arcade stick

I dont want to get a madcatz te street fighter like everyone else and there mothers, i want to see what is out there first before i join the bandwagon(late bandwagaon).

Any recommendations? I dont want to build one, i have some doubts about getting it off ebay but if someone recommends a link ill be sure to check it out. Dont care much about the price range aslong as its a fully functioning arcade stick that is purposely made for fighting games.

Worth it? Been wanting to get a stick for a while, but i'm too much of a jewcheap bastard to pay $150 for a new one.

Also, if the sticks are crappy as is tell me because I won't have to patience to mod it.

The joysticks you need to look out for are the ones made with Sanwa parts. This is the best of the best, if its made of something else, don't bother.

Here are some complete arcade sticks that are compatible with all 3 major gaming outlets (360, PS3, PC) and they're hand made. Unfortunately, you'll have to pre-order them cause they don't drop til January next year.

This.  It's the laziest equivalent of making your own stick and it's solid. You can find them on eBay for pretty cheap(considering the retail cost+parts).  I love mine.

Dayum.  Those are some fine ass sticks.  I'm primarily a pad player, but I do play on stick occasionally (Some games like Melty and Blazblue I prefer stick actually) and I'd like to be versatile enough to use both.  When the Onyx Fusion restocks I definitely wanna pick that up when I can.  Compatible on both consoles AND on PC?  Yes please.

You should be able to get a TE for less than $150 since MadCatz pretty much runs promotions during every major (SCR is coming soon). I've been using a TE-S for a while now and haven't had any problems so far. They're easy to mod if you ever wish to go there. Another option is the QANBA Q4RAF that comes modded to work on PS3/360/PC. Don't know about any discounts on that one and notice that it has the [START] button close to the buttons. Some people have problems and accidentally press it while playing. There's also the Eightarc sticks that are similar to the QANBA's except it doesn't have the [START] button on the front. You can get those dual-modded as well. There's a bunch of other options like HRAP, VLX, or even the Exchanger that's coming out soon.

as much as you dont want to be like everyone else, the madcatz TE is just a stick that wont give you grief. ITs good for begginners and isnt terribly expensive.

I don't like the layout of those buttons it might just be me. Now i think about it i never did like the lay out of those buttons...I stick with my modded HRAP3. To me sticks work better when you mod them yourself something about knowing you did a good job.
