DC Phantom Hour - A Justice League fan game

So, after stumbling upon the Monogame framework, seeing that is pretty and shiny and cute, I got hold of Iced to do some preliminary sprite work for me for a small fan game idea I was cooking up inside my head.

So far, I did some small development on it.

Cast isn't final, nor is the current state of the engine. The same can be said about the hud.
I have much to code still to get everything working as I intend.

Plan is to get this to a very decent state and then approach Netherrealms to secure rights to release this fan game in several platforms.
Maybe even get official endorsement of this fangame.

But that is for the future. Right now I will have fun coding this little fan game.

I like it, looks a bit like Tiny Titans from comics you aren't using MUGEN as the engine for this game, are you?? also, it needs some Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Flash, as well other supervillains.

Another small build...

Ive been studying a bit on Darkseid. Im too much of a marvel fan, so I dont know many of those chars in detail outside of what I know from watching JLU.

JLU is a quite good reference show, though.
If needed, we can limit ourselves to characters that appeared there.

There's this movie with Supergirl and Superman fighting off Darkseid where Darkseid uses his Omega beams in a slightly more inspiring fashion too. The JLU cartoon is pretty limited on his actions beside a few stomps.

I loved that image in final crisis where his beams are separating from each other and twirling all around the frame. Looked incredible. I question the sanity of trying to recreate that with mspaint tho

I'll probably have Darkseid running on the next weekend build.
Iced has been doing a terrific job with the sprites. He is looking epic!

Darkseid is now done, all of his specials and hypers are prepared.
the main man was my next target, he was really fast to prepare. at this point he is missing crouch anims, standing gethits and winposes. he might get a couple more standing basics and gun moves. its pretty fun to draw a character with a huge hunk of hair.

And on my end I am working on the engine details, like sparks, round management, placeholder AI routines, camera.
As soon as I have an update running, I will post another video.

This game is looking awesome. Great job guys, I can't wait to play it. I've seen some of the moves that aren't in yet and they're very imaginative...yall are gonna love it.

Aye, we are missing very important names like Aquaman, Robin, The Wonder Twins, Toyman, Black Manta and others of very minor importance such as Wonder Woman, The Flash, Martian Hunter, Lex Luthor, The Joker among others, but I have a budget to work with. 12 characters will do for this project.

Hopefully, I will have another video up tomorrow with more improvements.

• Superman needs his S. Yeah I know it'll be a pain to sprite and code to appear right, but it's worth it. Supes needs his S. The S is for Shakespeare, for crying out loud!
• Likewise, Bizarro needs the same thing, of course with the S reversed. And speaking of Bizarro, he looks... wrong. He doesn't look like Bizarro. His facial expression seems unfit for him, and I think it would also be much improved if a few thin lines were added to his face to give him his trademark chalky and rock-like face.
  
  You each will receive 20 bonus Jmorphpoints if Bizarro's  "#1" sign is added.
  
• Batman's weird colors are for separation purposes, right? (Teal suit? Turquoise gloves? Grey bat symbol?)
  Same deal with Captain Cold. (None of those colors are right)
• Speaking of Captain Cold, his ice gun looks way too conventional, but it's not like that's never happened before in some appearances... Still, I think a more futuristic look would be better, or maybe even just a color change to purple or something.
• Starro needs sclera. He looks wrong without it, unfit for a star conqueror.
• Superman's colors are way too dull, what is this Superman Returns?
  I would also recommend using blue for his hair or at least a much darker shade of grey, as right now it looks wrong.
• Power Girl's stance is really awkward and dumb-looking. Unless she's trying to intimidate people by showing off her back muscles?
• 
  Roster is missing the greatest of DC characters, Rex the Mother Fucking Wonder Dog. This project therefore gets an F-, which is sad cause it looks so cool, but what can be done? No Rex. I don't make the rules here.
