lol, yeah,wtf... if anything they will never make the netcode worse, they would have to completely stop giving a fuck to do so. now it's interesting what new fighting game they plan to make if any, since they already have got their engine ready, lots of models I think they only need to be able to push content.

Here's hoping for sf5.

It's funny, in an era where multiplayer is saturated and whored out in games that don't need it, the one that actually does has the focus being taken off of it.

I hate the gaming industyr.

Oh no! Capcom is starting to care about the lack of contents in their fighting games! Surely the multiplayer features they've already established will be taken off and ruined!

FIGHTING GAMES ARE RUINED FOREVER!!

Good news, never been big on online. Single Player gameplay has always been the main draw in gaming for me.

Multiplayer isn't something that is in a box ready to be tacked on to any game. If they put more time into single player, the multiplayer will suffer and vice versa.

Street fighting is all about analysis, prediction, and reaction. That's it.

^ Yeah, what he said. I've always enjoyed story modes, I'm glad Capcom's considering similar stuff in their future games.

Is finding MUGEN to be more enjoyable to play when you're not wearing clothes an underrated opinion?

Cazaki

As far as SF goes I expect nothing because Capcom doesn't believe in character development. Marvel is of course, out of the question.

That just leaves Darkstalkers.  ::)

It just hit me that this may not be such a bad idea.  If more story mode/single player/casual fans show up to the games, they may find themselves enjoying it enough to get involved with trying to play competitively, leading to further growth of the community.

On another note, I hope Capcom doesn't think this is the source of their underwhelming sales as opposed to scummy DLC practices and RE6/DmC style stunts.

The sad thing is, it actually more or less IS, if what Mike Z says about GGPO is anything to go by.

I am happy to hear this news. Capcom really lacks in story when it come to single player. I believe a games main focus should be story. Multiplayer and online is important too but these are issues they will have to work out. Maybe they will be able to incorporate the two somehow.

What they said.

For me, half the fun in fighters is just figuring shit out/unlocking shit. I spent weeks discovering things in TTT2 and then ended up barely even playing the game. I guess I'm just weird. XD

Maybe ..if they want to go oldschool..Capcom should just release a great game..without DLC?

Yeah, if the purpose of DLC is to make more money why is it actually hurting Capcom's sales?  They just don't get it.

More content means growth
They have a ton of problems with their development but more content is always good.  They have had multiplayer content before and its not like they are going to throw it out of the window to spend more on single player content.

They always have to work on the netcode from scratch? Because that's mainly what the problem is when it comes to online.

And if Arcsys can do both single and multi in equal measures why would it stop Capcom from doing it too?

"Bad News" Hoffmann

^^ too much money invested..they go the milking route = best profit thanks to big names of games /game series of the past with as few money as possible invested ;)

Bastard Mami

that does not negate the first point, capcom already ahs got the fighting game engine and the network engine ready, if anything less focus on multiplayer means that they are going to leave things alone, probably with only the functionality of sfxt, there is no point for capcom not to recycle their old engine and network coe and focus on something else.

GOH

Thanks to those amazing posts Capcom will come up with an excuse for a shitty netcode next time they release the next fighting game.

"UH GUYS? WE WERE WORKING ON SINGLE PLAYER CONTENT?! YOU'RE WELCOME?!"
