Well, it's well known I love doujin games, especially the fighting ones. I wanted to talk about them but I don't see so much (or any) threads about this, so I decided to create one in the format of a Top5, so you can recommend your favourite doujin games to the others explain why do you choose your five. And I start with my list (I'm adding a video for each of them, for those ones that wanted to know):

1. Super Cosplay War Ultra
My favourite game for far in this genre, especially because I'm a cosplayer too. With a Pocket Fighter gameplay, animated stages, cool music and a good amount of difficult, this game is a MUST if you want something different in doujin fighting games. Getting so great characters and stages, it's a shame there's almost no content for MUGEN, being Moldredd the only one who made something with his Rario...

2. Yatagarasu
Art made fighting game, if you ask me. A beautiful game made by some Ex-SNK members with few characters but all of them very charming, as well amazing stages and a polished gameplay. Probably one of the most known (and best) doujin games in my list, along with Melty Blood series. If you don't know/download/play this game yet, you should do. Or play with its MUGEN adaptations at least ;)

3. Melty Blood series
Another one that doesn't need presentation, the adaptation of Type-Moon's Tsukihime visual novels made fighting games, since I know about this, I felt in love with the saga (and especially with Arcueid). My favourite MB is still Act Cadenza ver.B, the main one I play actually ;)

4. Akatsuki Blitzkampf
A cyberpunk future which nazis won the WWII, an awesome game with beautiful sprites and a great gameplay, this is one of those games I could play all day long and never get bored. And I should thank all those guys who converted its stuff to MUGEN, since chars to screenpack.

5. Axel City
Atsuki Koitabashi is the disciple of Tetsuo Hara, it's the best description I can say about this game which it's probably based on Hokuto no Ken because its character designs and the plot, which it's very anime-ish. Even when the sprites and the gameplay isn't polished as the other games I noted, I still like this game and I hope more people convert its chars and stages for MUGEN (at least the sprites are online, different from SCWU)

So, now it's your turn to talk about your Top5 Doujin Fightin Games ;)

2. Dong Dong Never Die Why: IT HAS MARIO

that's probably singlehandedly the most boring part of an amazing game. ignoring a chainless, overweight construction worker who bashes people's heads in to Ai Wo Torimodose and a man who is every single john woo movie characteristic in one with time stop for 'it's akuma but it's mario lol!!' is something i will never understand

but yeah. dong dong never die and akatsuki blitzkampf. that's...pretty much it

I didn't understand anything else in the game, except Mario.

Eeeh what the hey, I will bite:

1.- A! Taisen Shiyou (Azumanga Fighter).
2.- Melty Blood
3.- Crimson Alive Extreme Encounter.

That's all really, I haven't played many of them. If I ever get to play two more I may sort the list out again.

Spoiler: Disclaimer (click to show)
I know the topic title said top 5, but I just wanted to participate, is all. I'm also not much of a fighter guy, even though I am in MUGEN, but it's because I'm rather entertained by making stuff than playing.
you can find me on discord as jaede_ but be forewarned I do not talk about MUGEN nor my creations or anyone else's much these days.

Zemilia

I guess I'll participate. (But in no order whatsoever)

-Yatagarasu (Will donate during its Indiegogo thing, though)
-Crimson Alive: Extreme Encounter
-Vanguard Princess
-Dong Dong Never Die
-Melty Blood

That's pretty much all.

Handmaiden of the Seascape

I have only 3. Do they count?

Crimson Alive: Extreme Encounter (although I play it just for Towa).

Big Bang Beat

Melty Blood

Although I wouldn't consider Melty Blood a doujin anymore, since, while its true it started like one, it has reached prominence.
Quote from: PotSThat they don't just restrict themselves to my style.

Fact.

Damn, all of those videos where annoying and an attack on my nerves and patience, it reminded me why I'm not a Doujin supporter :P
I'm not convinced that SkullGirls falls into this catagory though.

Can someone please explain to me in layman's terms what exactly qualifies as a Doujin game? I guess it has to feature schoolgirls or something? I dunno man. It's definitely not my cup of tea  :S

Darkflare

Akatsuki has schoolgirls?

For the most part, a doujin game is supposed to be a game made by an indie developer though people tend  to not label indie games as doujin unless they're from Japan.

Duos.act

The only ones I like are the old Melty Bloods and Ougon.  Most of the others are broken as fuck and not fun at all.

Aldo

I... don“t really played any of those Doujin but right now the only one that catches my attention is Yatagarasu, the rest... not at all.
