about 2 days ago or so, I talked to one of the people I know in RL about the idea of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue getting acrossover

he stated that its a bad idea due to diffrence in game machnic and shit , when when I said that they could use a completly new gameplay style he said its even worse idea and the game well just become one of the worse games ever , and then I told him about SF X T being a game that put 2 diffrent fighting games with two diffrent game play in a  mix that had a new gaming style , he siad that its one of the current worst fighting games in the market ?

so, do you guys think that there should be no longer any new crossover fighters ?

Asking that in a MUGEN forum... Mix of gameplay is common in MUGEN...
you can find me on discord as jaede_ but be forewarned I do not talk about MUGEN nor my creations or anyone else's much these days.

I'm talking about Official Crossovers fighting games , that are made by big companies , main stream fighters

It sounds like a matter of opinion man.

That is the point of the topic, he wants people to state what they think about the subject at matter to start a conversation.
Also the title gave no clue to whether it's official game or not. It just said Crossovers.

Crossovers are a good idea. Just mix and match mechanics whenever applicable as long as they fit together well.

Is finding MUGEN to be more enjoyable to play when you're not wearing clothes an underrated opinion?

jaede_

I think Grooves allow to balance such combination of mechanics out, and group a select few together allowing balance in the overall resulting system. And making it seem less of a clusterfuck.

That should only come into play if there are too many mechanics to play with. A smaller amount of mechanics mixed together wouldn't really necessitate splitting them up IMO.

I changed the title, let me remind you guys that calling mugen a fighting game is a bad idea , some people are so sencetive  about it

Hmmmmm I think I may actually agree, but only because they've become so common.  Crossovers back in the day were huge fucking deals because they were rarer, but these days you see guest characters and crossovers so much it becomes something you expect and anticipate, and kinda cheapens the deal IMO.

Maybe they could lay off them a bit, but then make one everybody wants, like Nintendo vs Sega, or Cartoon Network vs Disney or Nick.

I agree with the expected part mainly.

With crossovers its like with normal fighting games too of course.

If the gameplay is fitting the theme, everything is alright.

Marvel vs Capcom and X-Men vs SF before showed us that the two Universes and the Characters don't have to be in the same league and can be very different....normally Hulk would only smile and tear Ryu, Ken and M.Bison into pieces while they are all very balanced in the games..so the different strenghts and powers were not a problem in the games.

Capcom vs SNK 2 showed us how many different gameplay elements and tactics of more than just two universes can be used for a crossover game, till today its one of my favourite crossover games and goddamn..i still pray for an official Capcom vs SNK 3 or finally a really really well made CVS3 Mugen game.

SFXT had its weaknesses and i believe not because it was a crossover but because Capcoms dlc crap, multiple bugs, and a flawed gem system that was not part of the SF or Tekken games before and not always liked. It also had one of the most stupid background stories of all crossover fighting games so far.

I would buy a GG vs BB game on day one with no hesitation.

What, like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games?

That, i'm afraid, didn't count.

Why exactly would it not count as a crossover game?

As long as I can be Mufasa and claw the living shit out of Spongebob, I'm all for it.

As a crossover: Yes. As a crossover fighting game: No.

As long as I get to play as Arnold's Grandma in Hey Arnold when I fight Aku from Samurai Jack

When I said that, I was mostly thinking about Danny Phantom vs. Generator Rex.
