Using fighter factory I just open the image, in the middle of the character's .sff, scroll to the palette I want that image to keep, save it as a BMP, then close out of it, re-open the character and replace the 9000,0 image accordingly ...

That's what I'm talking about and I love that pattern on the big ports 
now how about some custom small ports to make it look a bit more sexy, because right now the pixeled small pots are taking away from the rest of the awesomeness you got going.

I'm sticking to 1.0 for now, as my PC can't handle 1.1 yet
What I was trying to do is actually just edit the screenpack to have only custom big portraits (and small ones) using existing sprites. In the VS and victory screens, the portraits are still the default ones (I set them to 9000,2).

I'll be sure to join forces with you if I get any further with this, but I've been busy with a lot of schoolwork as of this week so my progress is going to be really slow.
