Wow, you really do learn something new everyday.

Is that IP nonsense even legal?

DNZRX768

Oh man.

What ever happened to the "customer is king" way of doing business?

Yeah, I know that people can be deceiving, lying bastards but the moment that you treat EVERYONE like so without justification, you will lose business.

what a huge disaster

It has all the makings of "what not to do." regarding public interaction.

Hear, hear to that. Too bad that these days, nearly all game developers act like prima donnas because they think their hot shit all of a sudden...

I'm pretty sure in this case it was the other way around. Way too many people got out of their way just to troll them and diss them.

These guys are indie developers, not much different than mugen creators. These guys are people, but some guys were heckling them like they were fucking Activision or some shit. It was pretty uncalled for in my opinion. They showed they cared about negative feedback, and that pretty much paved the way for a long line of trolls to form right outside their door.

That's how I see it at least.

I never believed in that phrase "the customer is always right", fuck no, sometimes the customer is a piece of shit.

They aren't treating everybody like that at all. The problem is that these guys get offended up to a point where they give REFUNDS to people they dislike. From a business POV, that's just really stupid.

Putting aside the fact that their game may suck and may have terrible mechanics for a fighting game, yeah, there was a lot of people who called them scammers for no reason at all. They may be damn slow at developing the game, they may make terrible gameplay mechanic decisions, but I'm sure they would not destroy their own reputation just to steal a bit of money from early purchases to later disappear.

These guys may not be known everywhere but they actually have a reputation in their own niche gory films industry. If they wanted easy money all they had to do was just make another movie and sell it but instead they chose to take a risk and actually develop a game. I may or may not like it but I appreciate the effort of trying something new at least.

Customer's always right my ass.

I used my girlfriend's account to buy the game now... I recieved instructions to download a .rar file...

The .rar file was CORRUPT.

If I do not have a working game 24 hours after my purchase, I will call up paypal and notify them of the situation, in detail.

ALSO: Fun fact, I didn't log in to the website for over 6 months... I even got the email from the webforum saying my account will be deleted for being inactive. I wasn't banned originally, I just stopped posting months ago.

From SRK.

While I'm not on the side of going out to destroy their credibility (Necrostorm has done a fine enough job on their own), they're certainly asking for it.

Cybaster

Even though they are indie developers, this must be the worst marketting strategy I have ever seen.
They could at least hire some guy who can write in proper English ...

Bastard Mami

well, they kinda made 90k euros so joke is on us, I guess ?

Titiln

do you think that's enough to break even

Iced

there is no justification or excuse, why would anyone even start to try to excuse people behaving like this.

When you put out a service you get criticism, and yes a lot of it might be unfair but the way to react to it is not to just shit yourself.

There is no justification for the kind of behaviour they have overall, having members of development going around talking like that or even the kind of freakouts they are having.

Being indie or just like mugen doesnt excuse doing anything of what they have done, their behaviour is shameful and would cost them the chance of participating on any more professional project just because of the risk that they would run to facebook to try to shit on critics.
This is no way for adults to behave.

This.

Customer may be a piece of shit, but the customer is still the person who you still need to have in order to keep your job. It's still unprofessional of them to completely blow up like this even if it does seem like it's rational, they may be people but they are still professionals.

That behaviour and the attitude to forgive that behaviour is poisonous, its the same attitude that makes primadonnas think that "make better your gay " is a valid comeback.

their game seems to be very low quality so it's possible.

DNZRX768

I still do not get one thing:

Why do they think that acting like this would make things better?

If it is hubris, then maybe I understand. After all, a puffed up ego would cause bad decisions.

Because it's a scam.

A mod from the Death Cargo website made an account at SRK in a futile attempt to save face... funny.

Ah, this makes sense.

Also, having the game download an .exe file to the computer just to verify a key sounds awfully fishy.

As in, an invitation for viruses to come though.
