Which one of the these fighting game series are the best among anime?

Grand Battle

The love child between Smash Bros and Power Stone. Grand Battle is a simple (almost too simple) yet fun and surprisingly decent fighter mainly during the weekends with friends. It takes amazing liberties with it's license and though characters have basically the same control scheme, they play differently enough with having their own advantages/disadvantages.

The lastest game (One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X) would add in a tag team system, in reference to the Pirate Alliance theme.

Budokai

Everyone's definitely gonna know this one. This one has an advantage over most due to the development team beyond it (Dimps) are former Capcom and SNK employees. With Tekken-esque gameplay and DBZ aesthetics, the first two were considered alright though nothing special as fighters by gamers but were loved by fans for it's tribute the series. The first Budokai was fairly limited in terms of options in combat... Budokai 2 added in a few things to improve the experience but it wasn't till Budokai 3 where they truly started to step up the gameplay by revamping the combat system to the point where it didn't just make for a good DBZ game but for a good fighter in general.

Future games would come and add even further meat to the bones (though they added a few annoying aspects of their own).

Clash of Ninja

As the series' first ever attempt at a fighter in 2004, Clash of the Ninja is not an overly-technical fighter. In fact, it's really simplistic but the attention to detail of the anime right from the cel-shaded graphics to the visual cues to the faithfully re-created super move sequences was nice to see while you're kicking ass.

Ultimate Ninja

Another big one. Later that year, they attempted another game (only it was for the PlayStation) which take more cues from the manga rather than the anime. Also unlike Clash of Ninja, Ultimate Ninja offered an experience completely unlike most other fighters and it was a surprisingly deep one at that.

Budokai Tenkaichi

Huge one, again. After the success of the Budokai games, a completely different developer team made a game that almost flawlessly simulates the action of the anime series (at least on a casual level). Budokai Tenkaichi (or Sparking! as named in Japan) got off a slow start with very limited combat options and various technical issues but the second game completely overhauled the combat system by adding in a bunch of combat options as well as edging out most of the technical flaws and the third takes it even further to ultimately perfect the Tenkaichi formula.

Though looked down as a shallow button-masher by much of the FCC, Tenkaichi has proven to be incredibly easy to learn but hard as balls... dragon balls to master.

Ultimate Ninja Storm

The fourth big one. Ultimate Ninja Storm is to Ultimate Ninja like how Budokai Tenkaichi is to Budokai... streamlined gameplay in turn for making a combat system almost flawlessly recreates the battles of the series. Ultimate Ninja Storm is easily one of the most beautiful anime fighting game series in terms of graphics and presentation which adds to the immersion.

Which anime-based fighting game series is the best for you?

S.D.

These choices are awful.

Hokuto no Ken.

Bastard Mami

voted other as expected.

golden fantasia

Big Meme

Voted BT, despite not having the third installment.

The Supersonic Warriors series also gets special mention in my books.

GTOAkira

-STREET FIGHTER VI WAITING ROOM-
-DRAGON QUEST XII WAITING ROOM-

Zemilia

Voted others (cause none of the other popular choices are in the list).

Persona 4: Arena Ultimax or Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax

If you mean a literal anime fighter: Guilty Gear Xrd or Melty Blood Actress Again: Current Code.

Kirishima

Aquapazza, if Taishi the man-god from Comic Party was playable.

Hokuto no Ken.

There's your answer op.

Well, since no one else will make mention of it, I'll just take the time to say that the Sailor Moon fighting games from way back when are strangely fun. Jupiter is a total beast in S, and Saturn is broken as hell in SS with unblockable normals and whatnot.

Person Man

I don't think J-Stars counts as a series quite yet.

Persona 4: Arena Ultimax
It wasn't originally an anime to that doesn't count.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax
This is a decent choice (Then again, almost every other choice in this thread is better than whatever the OP listed, especially since a lot of those are arena fighters/party games)

I don't think that's what literally means.
Also, looking at those terrible choices he meant the former, not the later.

Keku

Capcom JoJo and Bleach DS 2nd are like the only ones I can look up to and actually say they are pretty beast. Treasure did a bang-up job with their Bleach games in general though. Yes, even Versus Crusade, even though that was full 3D.

Extreme Butouden could also get up there with a bit of fine tuning. Maybe the upcoming patch will fix shit like Bardock's lulzy infinite.

No Gundam Wing: Endless Duel? Come on now

S.D.

More like Gundam Deathscythe: Endless Combo

Other than that that's also a fun game, unlike that SNES G Gundam game, as big of a G fan I am, that was pretty garbage.

Genesis YuYu Hakusho was amazing too, I tend to forget about Genesis releases because I never had one, so yeah, that one's a good entry as well.

Keku

I forgot to mention Endless Duel since tbh I consider it to be on a league of its own, since it pulled off so much cool shit. Like, it doesn't feel like it belongs in the time it was made. Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition was pretty much the prototype for it and even then it felt so... for anyone who didn't own a Playstation or Saturn back then, those games were like the next best thing quality-wise.

Sometimes I wish those games actually got updates to make them less... well, not exactly jank but kinda sorta, yeah.

(also would the Gundam Vs. series count as anime-based fighters because all of them are tight)

Darkflare

I vote Capcom Jojo as well and I almost feel ashamed of myself for nearly forgetting about it.

no genesis yu yu hakusho, tragedy

I voted for that under Others. I personally find it better than Bleach for the DS though I would put in under my top 3 list. My second would be Sailormoon S Jougai Rantou.

Jango

Osu! Karatebu! is pretty cool.

True, the framerate is a mess, but it introduces a few interesting concepts that fighting games don't usually touch. For example, whether you get into a second round or not and how much health the defeated characrer has in that round is determined by how much super they have in their super meter when they get knocked out. So yeah, it introduces mindgames like "do I obliterate the opponent with a super/EX move or do I hang onto my super so that if he knocks me out, I get another chance?" Of course the system has ways to build up super easily (ie: power charging, a special "block" that gives you a shitload of super when you block attacks but makes you take more chip damage), but it's a nice way to balance out offensive and defensive playstyles. And no, the game eventually stops giving you rounds after the third wakeup IIRC, so you can't have infinite matches.

Retro Respecter

That list needs improvement. I choose Nitro+ Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel.
