Topic revival.

What's up again MFG? Been a cool minute since I last posted on the forums. But nonetheless progress for my project has been steadfast. Metal Warrior is working on the character Iirera.

Iirera's character concept revolves around her using a more modern Pankration (Ancient Greek) martial art style on top of her using her newfound powers of darkness given to her by the God of Death Thanatos.

When it comes to using special attacks that involve darkness, she will have another meter dubbed the "Void Meter" which allows her to gain access to new special moves and super moves. Void meter is slowly gained when Iirera attacks physically or is attacked physically. She can gain it faster through use of certain special moves such as "Chaos Shot".

I am also currently looking for another spriter for the character Salvador Bernstein.

Will continue to post more progress in this topic.

Pretty cool. There's just one thing that always bother me though. I really hate when someone ask for a commissioned character(s) and not have an ounce of ideas for move sets. If you have those in hand by all means, then spriting would be done with flying colors, but if us sprite artist need to come up with move sets for your character as well, then thats an extra cost and slows down the process. You dont know how annoying it is sending back and forth to see if an animation fits that character. Reason why there is a concept artist and a sprite artist.

Too many times I was asked to do sprites and no one ever had sketches of attacks or anything. Just pictures of what you posted. So I advise you to take the time and set up your characters move sets. Simple sketched out (not so detailed) frames (no more than three frames) would do. From how she would walk, take a hit, and anything that brings out your character's characteristics or you can just ignore my warning :D all in all good luck and hopefully you may see your character(s) being brought to life.

BTW Regina just looks like I-No without the guitar in certain ways ^_^

I agree with you :). I will definitely sketch out simple animations. That's usually how I come up with my characters so it shouldn't be a problem. Thank you for the advise!

Cool, I would say get a concept artist on board and spend some time with him/her on how your character's persona is. Your concept aritist (if a good one) will bring life to your character. By having those on board the sprite artist would just need to then focus on just that spriting :D going based on the concept sketches will just give them a nice path to follow. The better the sketches the better understanding the sprite artist will have.

And not have conversations like. "Its too small"  "it doesnt move like that"  "Can you redo the animation? It doesnt fit"  The more detail you give the smoother the run would be. Sadly I don't touch CVS or KOF nor do I touch low res. Im sure someone would pick it up and hopefully someone good and that has the time.

I've hired the concept artist for my characters! I went with Iirera for now since she has the most votes (3-0 lol). This is not the final design, he just sent me this as an initial sketch when I looking for a concept artist to hire.

Interesting, so she is a muay tai fighter (kick boxer) from what i am seeing here. Before you ask for attacks make sure to get all the boring stuff out of the way. Basic movements and hit states. Remember he or she doesnt have to go super detailed. Look at some of the sf3 concept art pages. So far so good and it looks like it may be heading to the right direction. And also remember look for a coder dead last.

If you are aiming to do chars for fighting games I recommend you this template I did, it has proven to be very effective, I tried it to do it as user-friendly as possible:

Good luck with your projects.

Thank you guys for your encouragement and helpfulness. @│ㄷ ▌, thank you for the useful sheet. It gives me all the basics needed for creating a character.

Careful with adding too many detials in her armor. Things wont fit well especially for SNK size style characters. Other than that looking great.
