Adding a Beard through Pals?

Okay okay I know this may be a stupid question but how would you create a beard using palettes without messing up the skin a lot? I want to give Vyns sf3 evil ryu a beard but I don't know how to do it without messing up the skin color. Sorry for the dumb question but thanks for the help lol

You have to make a color separation by editing the sprites. You can't do it through palettes alone.

One thing you'll have to think about before starting work is if you want the same character to be able to have 2 palettes where 1 has a beard and the other doesn't.
If you're just going to add a beard, you'll just need 2 or 3 free color slots and draw it on.
If you want a beard and no beard, you'll have to have like 6 or 7. You'll need colors to match the face's shading exactly. Then you'll want to add in the texture of the beard. But each shading of the face will need it's own color set.

It sounds hard to do, but it's a lot easier to do with a trick.
Make the beard just like you'd do if you didn't care about No Beard palette. Then in photoshop or another similar program, you'd stack the original sprite on top of the beard, and reduce it's opacity 30-50%. This way the colors will blend with eachother and you'll get unique colors. They'll be able to be paletted to look like a beard or no beard.

Gotcha gotcha that does sounds hard but I will definitely be giving that some thought Thanks Odb718 ! If I decide to do the beard and no beard thing I will post some pictures somewhere on this forum lol and hopefully get some feedback
