Since someone posted a Vselect help thread, that reminded me that I needed help with the program as well. My problem is that I can't get the program to open at all. It'd load the character data, but aside from that it will not open no matter how many times I've tried.

What's going on and how do I fix this?

What I'm trying to do is make the bosses of the game unselectable and hide NES MegaMan and Ultimate Armor X from most of the roster in my game. Vselect allows me to do that perfectly, the problem is that I can't get it opened.

So was it working until recently?  If so my guess would be that you recently updated a character (or possibly you added a new character by editing the select.def) - either way, VSelect is having trouble opening a character present on the select screen.  Some characters contain slight errors in the way they're encoded which Mugen accepts but VSelect is sensitive to.  It's probably something we can work around.  The first step is to figure out which character(s) are causing the problem.  Try commenting out recently added/updated characters from the select.def file by putting a semicolon at the start of the line.  If VSelect starts working, that tells us which character it is.  I can then look into it and work out how to get it working.

It's working now. I deleted some of the MUGENs that I have, those 2 are a crappy mock up of the game that I'm working on, and my default MUGEN that I use to mess around. I believe the problem has something to do with one of them.
