character not registering

Hi all

I'm struggling to register a new character, and I know how to install characters properly. Hell, I've been through at least 9 versions of the "dark stalkers" character Dimitri & he won't register. Every time I install a new version of him, it gives me a blank square on my roster. The files are there, the name is present on my "select.def" file, etc. This is very frustrating. I'm using mugen 1.1b I believe. I've had no trouble installing new characters thus far, but wow this is a hell of a wall I've run into. can somebody please help me? I'd appreciate it

ok so shutterbug, i put my char on a 1.1b mugen at it loads, so maybe the thing you make is put the first demitri folder, well you need to put the demitri named folder, if that is not the problem, its weird, also i hope i explain it right :p

well, like I said, I know how to install characters. I've done it before and installed a bunch of great characters.

well, i know you know how to dowload chars, but like me i have this same problem and the solution is put the same def archive name of the folder or if the folder have another folder that is the char, put only the folder char, this is all i can give to you :p

Maybe its bc you're spelling it as "Dimitri" and not "Demitri"....

Can you show your select.def?

The name you put in the select file have to be the same name that is on the character .def file unless the character folder have the same name.
If the folder name is Demitri and the .def file inside the folder is Demitri too you can just put Demitri in the select.

If the folder is diferent from the .def file like -> the folder is cvsdemitri and the .def is Demitri, you have to put this on the select:

cvsdemitri\Demitri.def
the first one being the folder name \ then the .def name always with .def after the name.

• Make sure you're editing the right .def file. Sometimes screenpacks comes with multiple select.def files for specific resolutions or number of slots. See what file is being used by your system.def.

• Try it in a clean install of mugen.

I'm definitely aware of how to install characters. I've installed a bunch.

Theres no demitri in the list... The blank square most be another character and your brain just *ucked up

ha! no, trust me, I took a swing at adding that character, and a few others. a blank square appeared. I did track down the original build of mine, and I started a fresh build. I'm happy to report I can add characters again, as per usual
