Arc System Works is back once again with an unexpected IP to work off on that normally pairs with Capcom for fighting titles.

CONFIRMED ROSTER
*Captain America
*Iron Man (with Hulkbuster)
*Storm
*Ms. Marvel
*Star-Lord
*Ghost Rider
*Spiderman and he is FINALLY revealed right off the bat.
*Dr. Doom

All characters have new movesets completely seperate from their MvC counterparts.  Much like Dragonball FighterZ, this game will have tag gameplay and mechanics, but for the first time ever, this will be a 4v4 tag game.  The roster is gonna massive.

Game has a 2026 release time.

Not going to lie... this is hype as hell.

All I want is some big beefy boys in here. Give me The Hulk, The Thing, Juggernaut.

DatKofGuy

My question is, if it's 4v4, how big that roster gonna be?

Probably small cuz idk balance i guess I'm not sure I could be wrong or more cuz of marvel hmm.

Byakko

Balance is not a thing. Has to be between 32 and 40. They've been working on it for years, they know they'll be expected, and 4v4 will make a smaller roster look ridiculous, it would get old super fast to see the same 8 characters all the time - you have to have more diversity.

So that's why Capcom was allowed to do the big collection rerelease, it wasn't a taste of new entries to come but a pity send-off, uh. At least it frees Capcom up to make CvS3.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

Exactly how is that different from MvC2, where you see the same 10-12 characters all the time?

Imagine if the Fantastic Four aren't in this one either — the one that's actually 4v4.

No MvC movesets/playstyle is the most exciting part of this to me, very eager to see how Spider-Man will play in this. 4v4 gives me KoF 2001 flashbacks.

Yeah, we see Spidey with a somersault / flash kick this time, I'm happy that we're past the "everybody gets a shoryuken" era. Finally give me diversity and movesets that fit the characters instead of "legacy / callback only". Looking forward to Wolverine not having fucking Tornado Claw.

MvC2 is 3v3, I haven't math'd in a long time but you get more permutations and combinations of teams of 3 with 12 characters than you do with teams of 4 :)

Well sure competitive MvC2 sees only 10-12 but in casual play there are 56 to choose from.

The inspiration from MVC is still there. Cap still has Shield Slash and Charging Star in his kit, even if they end up with different names in this game. Spider-Man has his lunge from MvCI, and Star Lord's super is just Dante's Million Dollars lol

Not to accuse this game of copying or anything. I just think it's open to having some familiarity (and that may be a good thing for a character like Cap — some familiar moves to serve as an entry level character that transitions an MVC fan to how this game plays).

Anyways imagine Blade and Daredevil don't make it into this one either lmao

SkySplitters

This is pretty epic.
I don't know. Ghost Rider would be "the" one I was hoping for with a game like this, and he is already shown.

Hmm. Maybe Blade would be cool?
Previously known as;
Mugen-Ninja 2011-2014.
The Street Fighter 2014-2021.

Wouldn't surprise me if it came out they (Marvel and Playstation) courted Capcom with the idea but either A) they were busy with other projects or B) whatever mess that happened during Infinite's development turned them off.

Yeah, I wish people learned from these experiences (fucking learn to say no to paper pushers), but I'm sure Capcom still would have wanted to make a new one but without the pressure and interferences from MvCI, and if it didn't happen, it would mean Marvel said no. When those things happen, it only leads to death of the franchise (SFxTK...), not to a turnaround and full reboot from nothing.
I rather imagine Marvel decided that having half a roster was dragging them down and they want a dedicated franchise for them. Plus, Capcom doesn't often revamp existing assests and movelists, and Marvel specifically asked Arcsys for a Japanese identity in the design and style, so I guess they figured, might as well start from scratch with someone else and let Capcom have their legacy collection for history, which is fine for the fans.

This has a long shadow to step out of. The Marvel vs. Capcom franchise (except for the MvC: Infinite, which was bungled by Disney's meddling) is greatly beloved.

New Gameplay/Mechanics breakdown :

The game will also be playable at Evo and will most likely have a trailer revealed on Sunday.

-DRAGON QUEST XII WAITING ROOM-

Doom has Aegis Reflector on a button for no cost ? It doesn't reflect anything and disappears after hitting once, we'll see how that gets broken...

It would probably be able to exceed Mutant Academy and Galactic Storm, though. And it definitely beats Marvel Nemesis.

Max breaks down his games

The combo gauge goes up with normals only. H normals add a lot to the gauge, but EX specials and supers add nothing (regular specials add a little bit), and assists lower it (but not if you use the L autocombo route ?). It also goes down if you immediately switch without letting the assist attack go through. DHC don't change it. I suppose if you spend gauge you don't get more restricted. Even when the gauge just reaches its maximum, you can still pull a super that will hit because it adds nothing to the gauge, it looks like.

Justin gushing out over Storm.

No chip damage, or at least it can't kill.
Storm's air unique pushes her back down, so you can basically short hop by jumping and immediately going back down...
Doom's unique Aegis will pull the enemy towards him when it hits them (or their projectile ? He blocks a thunder blast from Storm, not sure how that works with regular fireballs)

Demoing more combos.
Star-Lord's super freezes you, fills the combo limit gauge, but he can still hit you a couple times while frozen before you drop. The final effect (freeze, rocks...) changes with your installed element, we'll see if one is clearly better.

More gameplay footage from the EVO build.  I like how everyone shares the exact same health bar when tagging in rather than split apart like in DBFZ or in past Marvel VS titles.

Closed beta coming this Sept 5.

Also, did they bring back the same announcer from the King of Fighters XV trailers?  Sounds like the same guy.
