I was looking into developing a MOTW-style Blue Mary. I was thinking about using her KOF sprites instead of her RB Fatal Fury sprites to start.

I was wondering if adjusting her palettes would make her look closer to MOTW style graphics. Does anyone have any experience adjusting palettes to match a certain style? I was just looking for some advice on which route I should go.

Just had time to look over the forum.
But my suggestion would be to spend time looking at the specific colors of each character's palettes and how they're similar.
So you'd want to make notes of the differences in brightness in each "separation" in the character. The pants, the shirt, the skin, the hair. You'd want to focus on the shadow's base brightness. You'd want to focus on the highlights' luminosity.
If your shadows dont match how dark everyone else's shadows are, you'll be out of place. Same thing with the brightness. The char will look too dull.
Same thing with the overall "fade" of the colors of each section.
If the 2nd darkest color of the shadow doesn't scale up properly it wont have the proper vibe.

One EASY way to do all of this is, Fighter Factory 3's Advanced Palette Editor. Save one of the target video game's char's image as a file. Then in the Advance Palette Editor, click the right side and open up the image and import the palette.
Once the char's palette is loaded you use the eyedropper to select the colors of the clothing part from the right and send it to the left.
Some times the colors will be reverse order. Light to Dark on the left and Dark to Light on the right. You'd want to send 1 color over at a time.
If the total number of colors is different, Like your char has 5 colors for the skin and the source you're trying to duplicate has 7, try to see which one has the vibe you want.
IF the colors don't have the right hue or brightness or whatever, you can use the Advanced Palette Editor to dye and adjust the brightness as a whole. You'd select each color of the "pants" and then use the sliders to get the color you want.

If your character is a 1.0+ char, you'd want to use the 3rd icon at the top left to save it as a new group/index. If it's a winmugen you'd want to save it as an external Pal and then link that Pal in the char's Def file.
