Linux Mugen Problem...

Hello, everyone.  Due to MULTIPLE problems I've been having with the Windows port/hack of Mugen - numerous and nearly out of control, relating to random character crashes and random MP3-related crashes (actually I've had MP3 problems since day one, no matter what MP3 plugin I'd use) - I decided to switch to the Linux version of Mugen.  Then, all of my crash problems went away - so far, it seems.  But, I have a new problem to report: during a fight, whatever button I press, seems to be stuck on what I can only describe as "autofire...?"  If I hold back, the character starts walking and then DASHES backwards; the same thing for forward, or for any of the attack buttons, including the Start button!  This happens to ALL the characters I have!  ...What in blazes is going on here?  Is it related to common1.cns in the Data folder?  What in the world...?  (But, all of my crash problems went away, so that's good.  Now if I could only get some help for this problem...)
If it helps, I'm running Knoppix-Live v5.01; don't have to install it to my hard drive.
Thank you for your time...!

It is probably the way the keyboard is handled.

i think we should call it an "engine" so we don't look like total idiots because otherwise we'd be arguing about a "game" and that would be somehow "dumber" than arguing about an "engine" on the "internet" for countless hours

I for one, do not enjoy round corners!  :bigcry:
But they hurt much less when we accidentally hit them!  :S

No, you have to deactivate key repeat on the X Server. If you read the readme carefully, the description for the problem & solution is there.

Just type the following in a console pointing to mugen's dir:
/mugen$> xset r off
/mugen$> ./mugen
/mugen$> xset r on

Thank you SO much, Renzo!  Sorry about the readme file thing; I don't know why I didn't bother to check there...!  :|  Anyway, you've saved me from a BIG headache!  Thanks again!

EDIT: Yeah, something like that definitely wouldn't be the way that the keyboard is handled.  I mean, it just wouldn't make sense, for one thing...

For more convenience, create in your Mugen directory a new text file (name it whatever you want, but I'll use the name "mug.sh" for the sake of example) with the following contents:

xset r off
./mugen $1 $2 $3 $4 $5 $6 $7 $8 $9
xset r on

Then, modify the file permissions to make it executable.
Now, whenever you want to run Mugen, simply type "./mug.sh" instead of "./mugen" at the command prompt.
(The "$#"s in the script allow you to pass parameters to Mugen just like usual.  So if you want to load up your "testing" motif, you can type "./mug.sh -r testing", for example.)
Still quite busy.

(Yes, I intend to deal with that stuff eventually, but kinda can't just yet, sorry. :/ )

Didn't the shell scripts require a magic number to work?
#!/bin/bash ,etc.?
