If Street Fighter 4 were to ever be released...

Which characters would you want to be in it? I know that the possibility of SF4 ever being released at this point is close to nil, but humor me.

Here's my list:

Ryu & Ken - obvious reasons. What would a SF game be without these two?

Cammy - So far, every time Cammy has made an appearance in a game (with the exception of SSF2 and SSF2X/SSF2T), it's always been Shadaloo (pre-SFII) Cammy. I, for one, would like to see Delta Red Cammy, maybe with some new moves, too. Or, assuming her appearance in Final Fight Streetwise was actually canon, expand upon how she got into pit fighting.

Charlie - It was always thought that Charlie was dead. I think it would be awesome if Charlie "came back from the grave" after almost 15 years. Of course, there would have to be some explanation for his whereabouts.

Sakura - This girl has been nowhere to be found ever since SFA3. At this point, she would be in her 30s, and if she continued with her training after SFA3, she would be on Ryu's level at this point if not surpassing him. Or, she could have given in to Satsui No Hadou and became "Dark" Sakura, much more like Akuma than Ryu.

Karin - There was a hint of a rivalry brewing between Sakura and Karin in SFA3. So, if Sakura were to come back, I'd like to see Karin back also.

Guile & Chun-Li - For me, it seemed that a Chun-Li/Charlie romance was hinted at, but never explicitly stated, and she was there when Charlie "died" in the explosion. Guile was Charlie's partner and was pretty shaken over his death as well. If Charlie were to make a return, I would like Chun-Li and Guile there also.

Sagat - Sagat is one of two SF2 bosses I want to see make a comeback. I would like for the Sagat/Ryu rivalry to be settled ONCE AND FOR ALL.

Vega - Vega is the other SF2 boss I would like to come back for SF4. Every game needs a psycho.

Cody, Guy, and Kyle - Since technically the last game released in SF canon was FFS, it wouldn't be out of left field to add these three, especially Kyle.

And while you're at it, bring Maki back, too.

Rose - She had a major role in SFA3, and is all but forgotten in SF2 with a rather cryptic allusion to what happened to her. Either confirm for certain that she is dead, or bring her back and possibly have her as the final boss (remember, she's supposed to be close in power to M.Bison back in SFA3, no question she's even stronger now)

Akuma - Akuma has almost become as integral a part of the SF storyline as Ryu and Ken. It would be a cardinal sin to not bring him back for SF4.

Sidenote: The rest of the fighters I will mention come from SF3. If SF3 characters were to come back for SF4, I would hope that their storylines are MUCH more developed and actually tie in with the main plot this time around, as most of the SF3 characters (save for Sean, Oro, Yun, Yang, Alex and to a small extent Makoto) really had NO ties to the overarching plot of SF3 if their endings were an indication.

Sean - For the love of God, if Sean comes back for SF4, I would at least like for him to be a little higher up on the power tiers. He was a total joke in SF3, but even so I saw the makings of a rather good next-gen version of Ryu and Ken.

Elena - I loved her in SF3, but hated her storyline. Give her an actual REASON to fight, damn it! Kidnap someone, invade her tribal village, something!

Ibuki - Maybe now would be a good time to establish for sure whether or not she is connected to Geki (from SF1), either a student of his or descendant of his.

Mel - Ken's son. He's gotta be around 16 now, right? I think it's only right to bring an Ansatsuken fighter's offspring into the story (and since Ken is the only one with a kid, it would have to be him). Plus, a really good rivalry between Mel and Sean could develop, since Sean is Ken's student.

Oh gawd. Another one of these? lol Yay! Another SF4 topic!  :sugoi:

Well obviously Ryu, Ken, Sean, Chun-li. Some new ones would probably be one of Chun-li's students, maybe replace Mel with Ken, would be nice to see Capcom try a taikwondo character. They need to bring back Fei-Long, and maybe have Dhalsim train someone who doesn't use streach attacks but has a new unique style. I dunno. Let's face facts, SF4 is prolly never coming out. Thanks Capcom Co., Ltd..

I don't get it though, internet talk always makes it look like it'd be an instant hit. Sure, arcades pretty much died outside Japan, but there seems to be a huge ammount of people that'd be willing to buy the game.

You would think. But I was reading an article in this gaming mag I have where it talks about the higher-ups in marketing who give ideas like SF4 a thumbs down because they target a certain market/age group, don't think it will be worth the investment as far as putting a team into making the sprites, etc. It's really sad because good ideas (even better than SF4) are probably brainstormed but never make it past the first stage of production because of people who haven't actually played videogames since Donkey Kong and Pong. Yeah I may be exaggerating/venting....but meh, it feels good right now. :P

I have no idea what Capcom is smoking these days, but I can't count the many petitions I signed for SF4. lol

K.O.D

Capcom is busy on DMC4 and RE5 and after them, more sequels to other games.

No SF4 for another 4/5 years or maybe never.

Even if it gets announced,it won't be 2d.

It's funny that they never put the money effort into the 3D ones either. Even though Rival Schools had pretty low graphics, it was a heck of a lot better than any of the later ones. It would be nice if SF4 was in 3D similar to Tekken though.

walt

Tekken? Nigg4 lay off the dope.

SFEXPlus2 was great. KOF MI2 plays exactly like a 2D should with great 3D graphics.

They need to focus on gameplay... something that Tekken lacks IMO.

PotS

Cool thing about KOF MI2 is that it plays like a 2D and has what 3D fighter fans want, sidestep and A,A,A,A,A,A,B combos. I'd be happy if Street Fighter followed the same steps, don't care if it's 2D or not at this point.

The thing I don't like about the SFEX series is its speed, feels too slow (especially the jumps) when compared to the 2D games.

lol. To each his own. Wha? Virtua Fighter then?

Yeah, if they could make one similar to the KOF MI2, then it would be perfect. Would be even better if it was online. But with framerate issues that's not happening.

God_Rugal

Well, for Sakura, she probably became a normal mom like in the non-canon endings of the Vs. series.

Sagat would be getting weaker with age, and thus, less of an opponent for Ryu, but then again, look at Gen.

The comic books are Canon, and Rose is nowhere near as powerful as Bison in them.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the initial idea behind SF3 to completely restart the series?

In the first iteration the only returning characters from any previous SF game are Ryu and Ken.  They probably weren't even going to include those two in it at first but most likely bowed to player demand which also explains the addition of Chun Li and Akuma in later iterations.

If they make SF4 at all I think they will continue this trend.  The characters that would 99 percent be included would be everyone from Third Strike plus maybe another group of 4 original characters in the vein of the four "Boss" characters from the original SF2.

Isn't the alpha series just there to give more backstory to SF2 and link the Final Fight and Street Fighter worlds? SF2 was like a sequel without a first game as far as the story is concerned.
I highly doubt that capcom would add all of these Alpha characters most likely they would be SF2 characters or their students or those that have other ties to the SF2 characters.

The only way Alpha characters would appear in my mind is if there are referances to them within the SF3's.  I honestly do not know if there are any which will probably blow a hole in my post  --;

This is also assuming that Capcom doesn't bow to player demands about adding every SF character making a game similar to MK Armageddon and makes a game in the style of SF3.

Tekken's actually made with the tourney-players in mind. They always sacrifices the games' content for it.

SF4 is a very bad idea. This saga needs to finish. :P

One more shoto? No, thanks. --;

Nevermind this.

Vega is dead IINM. Gouki Shun Goku Satsu'd him in SF2.

SF2 characters that were abandoned in SF3, most probably AREN'T coming back. Seriously, what makes you think Capcom would ever do that. If they wanted a SF2 character back that badly, he/she'd be in SF3. But the only ones that came back were Ryu/Ken/Gouki/Chun Li.

Maybe Ryu becomes the next 'powerhouse old man Shoto' like Gouki, maybe a different approach at gameplay. He'll most probably reach around Gouki's level by SF4.

Ken sends his son Mel into the tournament, I guess. He mentions him too much in SF3 for him to not do anything with Mel in the next instalment.

Then again this is assuming SF4 is EVER going to be released. Which I doubt. It's been way too long since SF3. Sony went from PSX to PS3 and Capcom hasn't done shit with the SF saga. I don't want it to end like this, but I don't want to get my hopes up either.

Both are getting old, you know.

lie, the only comic books that are semi canon are sakura ganbaru, ryu final, another one made by the same author. while they are not canon per se, capcom took several ideas from them, like karin.
