Just got it and will edit with opinions.

I played the game a bit in Chinatown Arcade at NY some time ago. It felt a bit slow, but fun.
I don't know how you call them, but the "stands" offered some variety to the characters.

It's a slow paced Guilty Gear with awful character design that consists of annoyingly moe' girls. The only people that will play this game are the pedo otaku anime fans. It's fanservice for them. Top that off with button-mash friendly GG gameplay, and it's a game any average overweight greasy otaku can pick up and play while they wait for the next Final Fantasy.

Agreed, even though the actual spritework isn't that bad, the designs are generic...and the gameplay is mediocre, some characters have infinites/cornertraps that only rely on projectiles.

Guilty gear is far from button mashing --; If you beat the missions by button mashing the gods of luck are on your side as does beating maniac mashing...

I have many names,

He said plain Guilty Gear (Which fairly enough, IS a button masher), not Guilty Gear X, XX, #reload, Slash, Accent Core, ctr+alt+delete rehash, etc.

I got it last night and in all honesty, I found it to be really clunky.  I'm pretty disappointed overall. Power draining air dashing? Bleh.

I believe the stand system adds some depth that saves this game

based on your stand your character's abilities/playstyle can be greatly expanded or limited.

The stand summons (activate stand max button A+B+C and then QCF A+B+C while flashing) offer both high damage and can also be comboed into or one shot pray if it hits type based on the character and the stand.

The stand system definitely sets it apart in my mind.  The combinations of stand/character are pretty broad and I do not think the game has been out long enough to decide which stands are best for each character or if some stands are better than others.  Some characters can combo into the summon while others can't etc..

I only played in Chinatown Fair and usually against my gf (who mashes pretty effectively  ;))
Used "stands" because Renzo set that up as the name used for this thread.  I believe they are actually called arcanas

Without that system, yes it is a pedoanimephile's otaku dream version of guilty gear.
With it, the depth is increased and one can play it as deep as they want...kind of like smash bros.  You can play both as just a fun easy to play game where mashing is your friend or you can get crazy deep into the system and combos and such.

Maybe I am just an idealist/noob whatever but I do not think some people can get past the look of the game and see the depth behind it and that hurts it.  If the character sprites were all varied like other games I think people will like it better.

The game's core system suffers from the creator's spending loads of time on the stand system and also not bowing to conventions.

The first button is an over all anywhere dash/recovery/super jump button.  DownForward +Hard attack I believe is the universal launcher you then have to hold the first button while steering with the joystick in order to continue the combo.

it rewrote for whatever the reason a lot of the air mobility moves that we are so used to.
If you can get past some of the flaws I think one can find a game that is a lot deeper and complex than what people see at the surface

Also a lack of a comprehensive move list, system guide hurts the game.  I have not been able to find one that covers every nuance of the stand and core systems while giving a move list and a breakdown of which stands should be used for who and such.  I would be grateful if anyone has such a guide.
