is it easy to do?? and could someone tell me a simple step by step method please
and a step by step how to change the word "rush" when fighting

No, that's a lot of typing for stuff you should learn to work out yourself if you're serious about this.

Stages are in the stages folder
Select screen is in the system.def within the data folder.
fight.def controls a couple of other thigns you need to know about.

System.def and fight.def are both WELL documented within the files. Every line is preceeded or succeeded by a description of what it's for. Read them through and if you don't understand what something does, change it to find out.

Backup first or leave some sort of reminder as to what the old value was by ;'ing it out before changing anything.

This was still on Page 1, it can't have been more than 5 posts down. You do NOT bump a topic in this section EVER. Your problem is never more important than anyone elses.

As stated. Those files are well documented. How about you READ them. Like i said, if you're serious, you'll have to work this stuff out yourself a bit. Most of us manage it without problems.

Yes.
Quotehow do you make a .sff and def file??
SFF : read about sprmaker, there's a readme that comes with it. DEF : open the one of the stage that came with mugen and read. It has all the info you need. Open it with any text editor like notepad++ or wordpad.
Quotei have looked through system.def and still dont know how to change the selection screen ???
Read it again (the original that came with mugen), it has all the info you need. Like, it tells you "position of the big portrait", "number of rows", "cell to start the cursor at" etc. We couldn't tell you anything more helpful than that.
Quotehow do you transferr a jpg into a .sff or .def??
You don't, you use pcx files. Read the docs about it.

so i save an image as .pcx on photoshop then put it in "stages" then write "image name.pcx" in select.def ???
is that write if not could someone tell me how to do it

thanks

Byakko

Save as PCX, READ THE FUCKING MANUAL, fix the pcx so that it's correctly saved after learning about palettes in Mugen, READ THE FUCKING MANUAL, add them in an sff, READ THE FUCKING MANUAL, then write up the animations in the def and READ THE FUCKING MANUAL.

See the thing here, and this is important. We can't tell you if it's "not right" based on your text. If it works it's right. There isn't a massively WRONG method of doing this. Doesn't matter how you do it as long as the end result is correct.

Try, try some more, then try again. There is no magic button.

If you're serious, you'll work it out.
