Hey there, I'm kinda new here, and I've finally getting work done on a dream porject of mine, I think it would be easiest to build on MUGEN so here I am! I came to post up my current progress and also seek new staff members to help me with my project, so here it is:

Spoiler: About the systems, added 9/16/08 (click to show)
5-button attack input: P(unch), K(ick), S(lash), H(yper Slash), and XC'D(pronounced "exceed")

The XC'D Gauge: With a max of 3 levels, use it to preform over the top finishing moves, transform your character, and even halt your opponet mid-combo and counter attack!

The XC'D button: This allows you to preform your signature moves, and enhanced versions of your special moves.

Brave Counter: By using up 1 level of the XC'D Gauge you can activate a "Brave Counter" (XC'D + another attack button) and stop your opponet mid-combo and begin your own assault!

Gene Activate*: When the XC'D Gauge is at max, by pressing all the attack buttons (excluding XC'D), you can activate your "Devil Gene" and become a more powerful enchanced version of your character!** This allows for 2 totally different play styles per character!
*Not all characters carry the Devil Gene, but all sport a similar transformation
**It is possible to revert to your original state by getting the XC'D Guage to max and pressing the XC'D button. You are allowed 1 transformation and 1 revertion per fight, NOT round! Also once reverted your XC'D Gauge becomes unusuable, thus any actions requiring the Gauge also become unavailable. Use this feature wisely.

- Sprite artist

- Background artist
- Composer(s)

However if anyone knows of a good program for composing original music, we would be very thankful to you, as we already have someone in-house interested in composing, we just need a decent program.

Evening ladies and gents!

Tonight I'm here to post a QA (Quality Assurence) Survey to make sure we provide the best possible experience in not only Devil Gene R but future releases aswell! As we want to hear the opinions of the people, most of these questions will be open ended and not choice based, so please feel free to speak your mind! We ask that as many people as possible answer as many questions as possible (we do not require you to fill out the enitre thing, just the areas that interest you) so we can acquire the most accurate data. So without futher adieu, here it is:

1. How do you feel about the following fighting systems: Street Fighter 3's (Parry, 1-choice Special Arts), Guilty Gear's (Roman Cancel, Slashbacks, Dustloops), Arcana Heart's (Homing), Melty Blood's (Magic Circuit, Heat/Blood Heat, Arc Drive Specials)?

2. Which do you prefer, Hi or Low-Res Sprites?

3. How smooth do you like the animation to be?

Lol, no you pretty much hit the target on that one, never really tought about Plasma Sword, but there is definetly some Guilty Gear and Melty Blood inspiration! ^^ I'm glad you're so excited, I've peeked around at your work and am quite impressed, you are a very skilled artist. If you could lend us any help, we would be most apprieciative!

1. How do you feel about the following fighting systems: Street Fighter 3's (Parry, 1-choice Special Arts), Guilty Gear's (Roman Cancel, Slashbacks, Dustloops), Arcana Heart's (Homing), Melty Blood's (Magic Circuit, Heat/Blood Heat, Arc Drive Specials)? I loved the roman cancel system and dust swoops from Guilty Gear, The parry system for Street fighter was ok, but there was nothin much else to it; a perfect guard system would ave been better. Blood heat is awsome, but its almost he same as a DM or SM from Kof seires (yet thought out a little better). I personally think you should reinvent a system that works in a loop, rock paper scissors. So such things like over-heads, and projectiles don't hve so much dominian.

2. Which do you prefer, Hi or Low-Res Sprites? Hi res is where it's at baby, espcially for your character style.

3. How smooth do you like the animation to be? Fluid, but not overdone. Your character look good, but they are much to complex to animate to great detail. it would be a waste of man power.

4. Do you like combo based or button sequence fighting style? a mixture of both is always great, i love it when chracters feel different when you use them, keep people from mirror matching and spamming moves.

5. How do you feel about the following properites: Zoning, Charge moves, Projectiles, 360/720 motions, Slow but strong character, Fast but weak character? All good, and all should make an appearance in some way.

6. What type of musical scores do you enjoy in fighting games? i personally liked tekken tags synthesized techno songs, but really what matters is that the music creats the atmosphere of the world your presenting, so that should be the most important.

7. What do you think about transformable characters? Always a plus, it shows effort and creativity put into the design.

8. Is it better to have traditional character types/moves, or do you perfer more bizzare designs and attacks? i think original is always better, but making it reasonable and assesable is the most important detail of all. For example, i think Testament from GGX is the most orignal 2D character to date.

9. Are you a fan of SNK bosses? No i hate em' they are all cheap and have no real skill. They are based around taking heavy damage, having super priority, and filling the screen with chaos you can't avoid no matter what you do. The only boss i like was Jivatma from Maximum impact.

10. Are you a fan of bosses at all, and do you like them to be playable? I love bosses who are challenging because of certain abilities, but never because they are just gay. But yes, who doesn't love a good boss character? I love playing as a boss character now and again, but it's not really needed.  ;D

First let me say, thank you for the signs of interest! Next, even though I'm about to talk about the systems found within the game, keep in mind this is all subject to change, about the only thing set in stone is the button layout, not quite the functions, however here is how the current build is shaping up:

Hey Nazna was looking you up on the web while the site was down; didn't know you where a crew of 5-6 in late 2007. Was it Red Moon or something like that? I was trying to establish a full crew around 99-2003 when mugen was at it's peek, but everyone was doing thier own thing. Too bad, could have done great things back then. Anyhow, back on topic, i'm game for helping you with this project, i love seeing great work come to fruition  ;D.

Because I have a few things I am trying to do myself my role in your endevor might be quite small but I assure you though a small role it will be, It will be well worth your time. In any case, I figured maybe you could help me with a few things concerning my own baby when the time comes. So far the openings I have and am able to do for a project are...

-Hit Sparks/ Transitional FX/ Whiff FX
-Special FX/ Rendered objects
-Game OST/ Sound FX
-Level design/ Debris design/ Scape design.
-Concept Art/ Gamplay Tweeking (Not a coder tho)

I can adopt only one of these roles whole heartedly, anything more would be less, if you get what I mean  :-\?
Aside from all that, i wish you the best with this, as it is quite the ambitious project indeed. I wouldn't recommend any but the best help you with this bad-boy. That's all from me, e-mail me if I can be of use.
