Can you setup a var to detect if palfx is in effect? ???

well not exactly, no.

It depends, you can use the exact same triggers you use to trigger your palfx to trigger a var that says you are using palfx. it is not as reliable as having a real palfx trigger, since a lot of stuff can stop your palfx, but it can do some work.
