Hey folks whats up i was wondering... whats the best setting for registration? I'm thinking of opening my site so people can join but not that they have too, know what i mean. Here's what i mean you know that some sites requires that you join first before you can view any of the sites material, i just what anyone that is willing to join, they can do so. ;P

Here are some options:
-Immediate registration
-Member activation
-Member approval

Go with Immediate registration but make sure you have a way of keeping bots from doing the registering. Some site programs have an email validation option where the site somehow knows weather an email is real without the user having to activate through there email so that may be an option for you. I think Joomla has that.

I mean if you are not worried about people making multiple accounts or if you don't really care if someone gave a real email then Immediate is the way to go.

Member activation, unless you are putting up the 911 site nobody needs instant activation.

Yeah I know I was testing out a new site I was making and that was one of the options available. I think I was playing with Joomla at that time. I didn't activate it though because I feared that it wouldn't work properly and it would turn away people that were real users. In the end after messing with different template internet softwares, I decided to go with HTML CSS and wordpress after the front end. I mean the work of using some of these things is more than writing you own stuff I swear to God.
