A Unique Request!

[Rikoshay]

I've been out of Mugen for over 4 years now, and thus I have no idea which characters to download. Can you please suggest the best characters that have been created over last few years? Or more recent. Whatever is easiest. Just state the char and who the creator is. Thanks!

First: play MUGEN

Second: download many characters and prove them

Third: now you can choose what do you like and what not...

Fourth: this forum is for specific MUGEN stuff isn't online, not for "choose chars for me"

I'll bite... why not.

I don't know about the last 4 years total... but off the top of my head....

Every character by Phantom.Of.The.Server is high-quality, with tons of custom effects, originality, detail and AI.  I strongly recomend replacing any character you have in your roster with his version.

I'm sure he was around 4 years ago, but while we're talking about high quality CVS characters, I can't NOT mention Warusaki3 who has moved all of his characters to mediafire.  There are some real shockers there too, like an anime character named Yoko with all original sprites (and an enormous rack).

Check out what H'' has been up to these years while your at it for even more CVS conversions.

As far as individual creations go, I know I was amazed at the awesome spritework done to make "The Thing" from the Fantastic Four.  I don't remember the link to the site right now, you can find him in a few places and I think there might be some alternate versions.... but it's still really impressive for an original character.

While you were away, entire games got mugenized and you really need to get on top of that.  TONS of Hi-res games have been released and mugenized with good quality.  CPS3 has been emulated, so you can look forward to extremely accurate versions of Street Fighter III characters by GM (Alot of people have trouble navigating that site.  Figure it out.

What it all boils down to... is taste.  I found myself amazed by certain creations that I'm sure others here would laugh at.  It's all about personal taste.  There's no way to really bring you up to speed... and catching up is always difficult in this hobby... (I should know, I do it all the time)... so some good places would be browsing the release section, databases, WAREHOUSES (seriously!) and, annoyingly enough... friggin Youtube.  Yeah, people tend to make videos of only the most "amazing" characters, depending on taste...

And completely ignore those posts above.  Everything by Kong is shit.

Thanks alot, Tom. I'm sorry if some of you thought I wrote this post just to be lazy, but that really was not my intention. I've just been away from the scene for so long, and I was somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of creations that were made. I was just hoping to get some sort of a consensus on the best creations, even though I'm a fan of all works as long as they're not stolen.
