i was trying to add some VioFits edits to warus ken using Fighter factory and got this when i hit optimize button

lil help? :S

Byakko

Make sure the sprites you add are in the correct format - 8 bit pcx file with the same palette as the sff you are adding it to.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

CaReLesS

i save them as 8 bit PCX but the pallete order from the edits are different from warus chars :S
im guessing thats y? :-\

any hits on how to edit the pallete order? cuz i cant seem to do it with photoshop :S or i dont know how :p lol

Byakko

Extract the palette from one of the original sprites, and load it onto the sprite you want to add.

did that and went from this

to this

dont know what im doing wrong but i have a feeling its the way the pallete order is set
......dont know how to change it :S

Cyanide

If your sprite has a pallete on BEFORE you apply the pallete from waru, remove your personal pallete first. Apply waru's pallete to a 32bit sprite.

In M.U.G.E.N there is no magic button

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

No, don't use MCM. And it won't fix the problem anyway.

In the paletted sprite, each pixel is associated with a particular color slot in the palette.
When you try to put a paletted sprite in something that is also paletted (with a different palette), two things can happen :
-nearest color matching : the pixels in the new sprite will be associated by default to the color that looks the losest to it in the new palette.
-palette swap : if a given pixel was associated with color slot #24 in its old palette, then it will be associated with the same color slot in the new palette. Even if the color in that slot is completely different. Possibly what happens in your attempt on reply #6.

I don't know if the "nearest color matching" method is available in PhotoShop. You can simply take your new sprite, turn it into 32 bits without palette (increase color depth to 24 million colors), and then load Warusaki's palette onto your sprite. It should pick the right method by default. Then, if something gets weird, it's possible your sprite has color that aren't the exact same as in Waru's palette.

If it still doesn't work, PLEASE, do say what you do and what you get instead of just "I don't get it / it doesn't work". If you say "I do what you told me and it still doesn't work" obviously you must have done something different, and if all you tell us is "I did it" we can't tell you what you did not do as we told you, we can't magically guess where your problem is.

1.take one single sprite
2.index the sprite
3.save the sprite palette color
3.1.before you save it...chose the background color and move it to the last place on the palette.
3.2.the place were you took it, change it for other color
4. the rest of sprite sheet should be indexed with that color palette.

MCM use a option(share or not with palette) for each sprite on sff
option:share

... No -_- This will do the same as what he got above. It will take the palette from Waru's sprite, but if his sprite doesn't have the same palette (obviously it doesn't), it won't work. There are two palettes involved, the original and one on the sprite he's trying to add.

i said, create a new palette color

Quote1.take one single sprite
2.index the sprite
3.save the sprite palette color

No, the point is to avoid having a new palette, but taking the one that already exists.
He's trying to add the sprite to an already existing SFF which already has a palette. If he creates a new palette, that new palette will screw up the new sprite when clashing with the existing palette. He has to use the same palette that already exists. He should not take one of his sprite and index it to extract the palette, but get the palette that already exists in Waru's char. There's nothing about indexing a sprite, it should already be indexed in the SFF that already exists.
