New SNK fighter?

What's this? Another new fighter from SNK? Not too surprising, but when and what? Well, consider it 'new-old.' Mark of the Wolves sequel? Nope (not yet, at least). Battle Coliseum sequel? Not quite. How about World Heroes sequel? No chance. Take two of their previous fighters, put them together, with all new graphics (ahem, 2-D, not 3-D), new game engine, storyline and you have yourself a 'new-old' fighter. All we know for sure is the announcement will NOT be made at E3 as normal SNK releases generally is made for the arcade market first. So expect news leaks from JP Publications in the upcoming months in between E3 and the Tokyo Game Show 2009. Pix and footage will surely be available by then.

Guy is apparently some sort of reputable source, otherwise this wouldn't even be worth the speculation.

Samurai Shodown vs Last Blade probably fits the description best, but who knows.

Old news. Many say it could be SS vs LB in 2D HR. MOTW sequel is next speculation but not likely.

There's also AOF vs FF... yeah essentially KOF I know, but when you consider the storyline bit and KOF12 people's fondness of that dream match, I wouldn't rule it out entirely.
Drawing some chars twice in only a couple of years is hard to imagine though (happened in the 90's, but back then fighters made real money).

If it's NBC 2... meh.  I've been waiting for a SS vs LB for ages.  Either way, I'm extreeeemely pleased and relieved to hear it'll be in 2D.  It's news like this that makes me forget Capcom fighters still exist sometimes.

Samurai Shodown VII: Warrior's Rebirth (a new SS Game done in KOF XII spriting)
Which I believe is also SNKP's "middle finger" to Examu.
I might also say, Garou 2. It's either Samurai Shodown VII or Garou 2.
Or an arcade version of Gals Fighters perhaps, their possible answer to Examu's Arcana Heart
But if it is a crossover, it may be 20 characters between 10 SS characters (HNGRUGHJKS) and 10 LB characters (KMYAWALKHS).

I really expect that the new game won't be a new Samurai Shodown (I like the serie, but there are others to care).

MOTW or World Heroes (I like that game, even with all its faults), maybe AOF vs FF (I like AOF too) are nice but..I REALLY would love to see a SS vs LB, that really would kick ass.

I wouldn't start hoping too much for a lot of HD stuff. SNK's seems to have been struggling with XII alone, making another full game with those graphics, like PotS said, would not be cost effective.

Not exactly, Real Bout Fatal Fury = Real Bout Garou Densetsu (same reason Street Fighter Zero is Street Fighter Alpha and not Street Fighter 3 : it just isn't it, it's a subseries). It wasn't Garou Densetsu 4 just as much as it wasn't Fatal Fury 4.
... Then again MotW was just "Garou Mark of the Wolves" as well and not even "Garou Densetsu". Yeah, you're right.
