I tried opening an .sff in Fighter Factory and it gave me a stream read error is there something wrong with it?

Cyanide

Just the sff? In which version of FF, and the final comment is "probably yes"

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

The old fighter factory.  I get an assert failure when I try to start Mugen.

Cyanide

Most likely, you've got some shit sprites in there. To get it to open (if it's not) run it through sffDtoW. This will let you open it, but it won't be the greatest SFF ever.

THAT'S SOME MOTHERFUCKING BULLSHIT!!!

I just opened it with MCM :/ and all the required sprites for a screen pack are gone so MVC UC is off. >:(

It's because of things like that, that it's more efficient in the long run to learn to use the real/good tools like sffextract and sprmaker (both are DOS tools). To use sprmaker, you need to learn how to make an SFF file from a text file, but for that, you just have to read the docs and also extract an SFF with sffextract to get a working text file.
If you're interested and need more help about it, just ask.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

ExShadow

Lol, it's okay I just made the screen pack again.  Thanks for the help though. :)

sffmaker/extract will get you a correctly compiled sff yes. However, if you don't know the base steps to setting your images up, they won't help you too much either.

I'm sure you recompiled the SFF using all FF's stupid shortcuts. If you can manage it, don't do that. Really, if you learn how to set the images up correctly not only is the final sff creation process faster, it's more stable. Mugen doesn't have to look at disparate shit that's been recompiled and optimised through a program that has it's fair share of glitches.

Ah, I see I'll look into this in the future.
