I want a Capcom Fighting All-Stars arcade machine.

I sorta' hate Capcom for cancelling this game over CFJ.
The game did look decent, and the gameplay seemed like a cross of Rival School's gameplay, a Vampire Savior-esque system and Star Gladiator's arenas.
Who wouldn't like Charlie and Strider in Rival Schools?

And when I found out about half a year ago that the game had finishing moves (nothing violent, just "finish you off"/"don't think about getting back up" moves), and the only one we were able to see was Ryu's from a location test and the asshole player shoved himself in front of the camera, preventing people of seeing what the hell was going on, I was mad pissed. D:
(The move was apparently one really powerful punch fueled with Satsui no Hadou that sent Charlie flying to the other end of the stage.)

Now I wonder... what were the other finishing moves? Are there still active machines salvaged from the location tests? Has anyone thouroughly tested the game? Why the fuck did Capcom cancel this game over CFJ? (Time constraint excuse is bullshit, game was near completion.) Why hasn't this game been mentioned by Capcom ever again? Will we ever get D.D. and Rook in another Capcom fighter instead of fucking Ingrid?

For fuck's sakes, Capcom.

I asked capcom they said it was because they didnt like you.

Well, not just on Capcom but on serveral other companies too, there is supposedely to be dozens of games every year that does not even get to see a public comment from their respecting companies. games get pitched and canceled all the time.

CFAS was just one of the (un)lucky ones to see the light of the day for a single day just to get the red light from their company.

deal with that, and move on with your life.

and don't expect D.D, Rook or even Ingrid to ever appear on another Capcom fighter again.

BTW, Capcom probably formated the machines to use on CFJ.

The boards were fumigated and then beaten with sticks.

A more serious answer is that it depends what kind of boards they used. Preliminar testing boards might be flashable, and even then theres a good chance there are a few of them around. As the game approaches being completed beta versions could be manufactured.

??? Seemed like they were pretty eager to shove Ingrid everywhere they could in every single SF-related game that came out since then. SF4 seems to be the only one that didn't get her and it's almost surprising. She even got that joke going where her power was the real source of Vegactator's Psycho power. Well, maybe the fever's over now.

That could be attributed to try to use the sprite work they had made.
Its not like putting  her in two sf games, one of them a compilation the other a mishmash title is being "EAGER". Its just a business model, you work with the resources you have already avaliable.

The game was in 3D.

Totally.
Sticking Ingrid in that sfzero 3 compilation and giving her a story and etc, just trying to take use from the sprite sheet built for cfj. Reusing a spritesheet once is not exactly

It would be like saying that Kof seems pretty eager to shove Iori in every kof game by the time that kof 97 was out.

Vegactator

Use Victator instead, otherwise it sounds more like "spectator", as in, "When M. Bison isn't the supreme ruler of Shadaloo, he's a spectator at horse races. He bet his last twenty dollars on Crapsack."

I don't see why you would want a CFAS arcade machine anyway, you can't kill Vampussies with it, and there are a host of better games anyway (like Darkstalkers, a game whose "B" Boards can be used to kill Vampussies).

Iced : out of the 3 major SF games (the only 3 ? Too lazy to make sure) that have come out since then (CFE/J, SFA3Max, SF4) two of them had her, and while I agree this isn't a lot, in SFA3M they actually went and tried to retcon the entire basis for one of the major SF arcs - the psycho power (even if in the end it's just a joke). Yes, I call that shoving her in their games. And as far as reusing spriteworks go, they didn't take the opportunity to insert Guy's, Zangief's, Chun-Li's updated, brand new spritesets in SFA3M, did they ? So much for reusing new work :P Then again I also understand that not putting her could have raised the question of "if they had it, why didn't they give us one bonus char". But then again, they still didn't do the same for Guy/Gief/Chun.

guy /gief/chun had been in the game from the getgo, inserting them would mean either as a bonus char or overidding the current sprite sets.
Overriding would mean the current fans would be displeased ( diff movesets and sprites means diff reaches!)
She was reused the total of ONE (1) game.
Its not a big deal. You could also have said the same you have said, about EAGLE.
"they have used eagle in all major games ever since cvs2! " since he was reused once since his spriteset origin game.
The story is just an excuse, probably more tongue in cheek than anything else. Donovan also had the story tacked on in vampire savior 2 ( He is seeing.. INTO THE FUTURE THROUGH HER SOOOOUL) . Not uncommon in capcom.

just because I'm curious, and i can't read intentions trough text: are you implying that:

a) Capcom keeps archives every single alpha/prototype they make for re-use of code purposes.?
b) Capcom did SFIV on top of CFAS coding?
c) there is still the possibility of CFAS being released?

as for my comment: Unless there we are talking on the likes of CPS3 or something, the same board can be used by diferent engines. so they can re-use boards to run new games. CFAS was stated to have a console release as well, so its board, specially the testing one, was a generic one that runs a dedicated windows version. and there is nothing preventing a 2D game and a 3D game to use the same board.

The game received negative feedback from the players, it was cancelled for a reason. :P

at C. I questioned that with sven on capcom bbs forum(on ASK CAPCOM SECTION) last-last year(as to be included on bonus) and he said that it would have a chance depend the reaction, feedback or something??? i can't exactly remember.

I think as of now we got SF4 it more unlikely since its gameplay and design was mostly targeting audience of early 2k just think the we got recently TVC so we might assumed that they abandon CFAS already.

as for the prototype with that answer of sven they might have it for backup purposes and record files.

You wanna know what the negative feedback was?
Here you go:
-It was 3D
-It "looked too much like SFEX3" (was not the case)

Capcom canceled a game for nothing, and they were even proud with what they had accomplished.
Then CFJ was released, being the shitpile it was, and the Japanese players ENJOYED IT.
Then again, part of enjoying a fighter as a Japanese player is exploiting it 'til it dies, but in a way in that of which it never does.

Fucking spoiled ass Japanese purists.
