id also like to point out that he needs to be 1 (or maybe 2?) pixels down, he doesnt touch the ground, you can see that the shadow doesnt touch him

Now all we need is a WhiteMage WIP and the hammer clobbering/bad flerting oneliners fight can begin...

Anyways, if you'd like, I could try and update the colours on your sprites to give them a SNES or GBA colour detail.

Neat. The moon thing is the hat corresponds to a slightly different class, I think, but still looks adequate.

You might want to look into alternative abilities other that direct offensive spell black mages have in the games - I'm most familiar with FFXI, and there those mages have some extra tricks up their sleeves like teleports. This could be handy:

Will the power bar correspond to MP normally used for spells, or is it only for supers?

Looking into how Shantotto plays in Dissidia might also help, or provide some inspiration, even if the type of fighting is a bit different from the regular 2D Mugen stuff.

Power bar = MP?

From then on you'd just have to set it so it didn't start empty and have some way to refill it. But I don't know what your original plan for the power bar is anyway...

Have you put it in without a space in-between (eg. power >=1000)? Sometimes syntax is picky like that.

Also, as for your lightning thing, I would recommend using a helper. I'll give you sample code if you need it, as I can't explain it very well without an example and I can't do that right about now....
