Hello everyone! A while back I started a Topic about a Sonic sprite project I was working on, I did 3 sprites, I believe. After that it went dark for a while. Now I'm gonna show of some of the sprites I'm doing. Also I'm doing these In a different style then the orignals. So I'll that your comment on if I should keep that style or not. Anyway... Here we go!

For something meant to be totally different from the originals, it looks pretty much like the same thing as Sonic 2 to me. I mean, trying to use his arms from the walking animation doesn't really works well for a punch, and the only difference I can see in the sprite style is that he has not brightening on his head (which makes him arguably worse). Maybe you should try making custom animations for his attacks, rather than just editing and putting parts together.

Also, none of the running sprites are showing up.

Thanks for the feedback!  Now when I said different style then the originals I wanted to say that they would look brighter and a little better then the others, Not completely different. Also I'll try to not do a lot of Franken Spriting.
Also the sprites without the brightening look a lot better.
Here is a comparison of Mine (On Top) and Original (Bottom)

All I see is the Sonic 2 beta run without any brightening on the head.

Really, it's an understandable concept to want to make a different sprite style for a character, but the only vibe I get out of this is a downgraded Sonic 2 sprite design. If anything, you're not forced to come up with a different sprite style to start a sprite project thread, and if you feel like it, you can just make extra animations for the official Sonic 2 sprites that you imagine being used on a Mugen character.

Also, if you still want to try going for something different, I recommend you experiment more with the sprite design and see what changes you can make to it that can still look appealing, if not just starting on a new sprite design from scratch for Sonic. Personally, I'd make Sonic's sprites in a bigger size and style (like Marvel vs Capcom or CvS) to fit in along most of the other fighters you see in Mugen, but that's just me.

Your right. My idea is that I could edit the Sonic 2 Sprites into the ones I want and then, Use those as a base to make completely new ones. But do you have anything to say about this?

That doesn't looks bad. I take it that it's supposed to be a Hadouken? But still, I personally think that his legs on the second frame of the animation could transition more properly into the Hadouken position-- as in, have the the shoes to halfway raise into the position of the Hadouken pose. Another thing I recommend is that you change his hands to look more properly positioned into how Ryu keeps his hands open, just to look more accurate:

Also, since you're basing this on the Sonic 2 sprite style, you might want to give Sonic's head the brightening that the official Sonic 2 sprites have. That way, it will stay consistent and it could also come in handy for whoever wants to use your sprites for any project.

Yeah, its a Hadoken. I based the sprite off this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8g3H_TSjpI
I'm still kinda doubting if I should add the Shine. I was redoing all of the sprites Including some from Sonic 1/CD and those didn't have Shine.

The Hadouken in Sonic Chaos is pretty much just Sonic's pushing sprite, though, so yeah.

And also, the Sonic 1/CD sprites still had brightening in them, and besides, there is nothing stopping you from editing the sprites from Sonic 1 to be in the Sonic 2 sprite style, which requires nothing more than touching up the brightening and maybe make some areas smoother.

Yeah I'll try that then.
But anyway I got something Cool!

The first one is based from some Fan Game called Sonic Vapor but with some major fixes.
The Second One (Which needs a lot of work) Is based from A SNES Pirate.
