Good start, but too flat.
Try to use your color areas in a better.
Look at muscular parts of existing cvs characters.
Raiden, Yamazaki, Joe...

The best way to do this is to redraw Zangief.
Spriting is hard.

A good reference can be Zangief's specific CVS/CVS2 sprites.
Like running or dodge... I'm pretty sure they can help you.

Maybe not exactly the same, and the shading is most likely different from the old SFA sprites unless the new sprites are frankensprited.

Just like the sprites that were done for the new moves in SSF2 and SSF2T.

Nope. He uses the exact same colors as SFA Zangief.
It's the removed shades what makes the sprite brighter, I think, although I haven't actually compared it.

other than very subtle differences like the way the beard is shaded the sprites are in the same exact style and are not a good reference for cvs. the running/dodge sprites were made in sfa style because if they made them in cvs style it'd clash horribly. stop pretending you know what you're talking about

cvs is just ABSOLUTE UPPER LIGHT SOURCE with almost no outlines

Thats why its not hard, people seem to be afraid to sprite without the outline in the lightest areas.
Spriting is hard.
