Hi -

Since people seemed to enjoy water effects from Squirlz I decided to make another one with water.

( I added a boat to make it less empty but I think it looks a bit like shit... lol... )
You can therefore deactivate the boat by deleting or cancelling the code in the DEF file with the name " [BG bateau] and [BG reflet bateau] " .

this stage is visually quite pleasing but was less complicated than the previous Ruin City stage. Still enjoyable I guess.

.. Anyway -

- High Jump
- Animation
- Music

This looks quite nice except that it looks like the water reflection is transparent where the floor starts.  :S

It would actually look better if there were no reflection from the catle and BG elements on that floor.

It looks surreal and unrealistic, but whatever...if that's what you were going for, then I'll shut up. ;)

Thanks for sharing another nice looking stage.

Keep up the good work.

the atmosphere is very nice, my only real problem is..and it's a small problem the music you have playing is traditional japanese whereas the location is china. i guess for me it clashes might not be noticeable for non-asians or people that can tell the difference.

I knew somebody would talk about that lol.

Here is the idea, I wanted to put a maximum surface of water for eyes pleasure but I also had to add a concrete floor otherwise character would be litterally walking on water which is stupid.
So I left things on purpose like this so characters are walking on a thin layer of water whereas where the boat is, the water is deeper.

If you want the floor to be perfectly dry without water, simply go in the DEF file and look for [BG sol] and erase the "Addalpha" and "Trans"  line. The water where the floor is  will disappear. I actually thought about your idea of letting the floor dry.

I hesitated a bit.

OH also if you make the floor dry don't forget to chnage the reflection into shadow otherwise it will really looked weird.

- oh I just tried... the floor doesn't look too good when dry lol...

Haha I am asian (half) and I can tell the difference for sure (I hate people thinking japanese and chinese are kinda same..) BUT that being said, this music from onimusha 2 is quite chilled and I wanted to have something like that in the background.

I actually did not worry too much about the inconsistence about the music and the stage, and most of all, I hate most of chinese traditional music. LOL

That's cool and all jeanbreau, and I'm pretty sure that you knew what you were doing, so I'm pleased to see you took my criticism the right way and not like I was bashing on your release or anything.

Here's an idea though...the line where the floor starts under that water is very sharp.

I am positive that if you blurred out a bit of that edge and floor under the water you could get a better effect.

Glad to help and I will look forward to more of your work.

...On second thought just leave it as it is, no biggie.

Yeah thanks man. I wouldn't behave like an insecure freak when I get feedback it would be a shame.

About the sharp line, I thought about that as well (you read my mind dude lol) but in the end i wasn't sure it would be noticeable so i left it.

On another note, It's really hard to think about animations to put in a stage... dude I got like 3 or 4 stages unreleased waiting to be filled with animations before being ready...

Excellent work. I really like this stage.
All of your Mugen Portrait needs may be found HERE.

I'd like to report two robots on the MFG forums: One is EXShadow. The other is Saikoro.
There should be a Saikoro plugin for Photoshop.

I personally use 1.0 version as well but can somebody explain me what the difference is really ?

I hear people talking about "converting" to 1.0 some characters or stage... Or some characters come in 2 parts, with 2 DEF files. One normal and one 1.0 DEF file.

I have never understood the difference because to me the characters were looking the same... what does the conversion exactly do ?

1.0 is more stable. Less likely to glitch out or crash.

Also, 1.0 can let you store a ton of palettes and allows proper AI scaling based on the options menu.

Some triggers and code are for 1.0 only.

I know there are more, but I can't remember them all.

^^ what he said plus this:
a stage can react different in winmugen and mugen 1.0 in terms of wall bouncing and ground bouncing, and in terms of how some hyper attacks can manipulate p1/p2's position on screen. And there is the scaling problem (a stage designed for a 640x480 res will not look good in a 1280x720 resolution). When they say converting it from winmugen to mugen1.0 i'm pretty sure this is what they have in mind.

I clicked this hoping it was an Oblivion stage.

I was dissapointed, but then happily suprised with the beauty of this stage. Definitely a keeper, keep it up!  :sugoi:

LOL. I don't make stages from any game. they are 100 % original. Glad you like it. :)
