Hey everbody, it's Jmorphman again. Yesterday we over at Guild removed the MMV folder from our network as we felt enough time had passed for you guys to get everything off it. All links to those characters will redirect to a page linking to a
topic explaining the whole situation. I was going to post this in the topic I made here a few months back when we removed write access to that network folder due to the aforementioned issues, but the topic is gone...
Which is pretty goddamn shitty. Trying to censor the truth only makes you (the mods) look worse. The fact that you just deleted the topic instead of trying to even make an attempt at discussing it makes your side look pretty bad. And to this date we have not gotten one single explanation or attempt to talk about the situation, even after we attempted to talk about it with you (again, you meaning the staff).
So basically, you abused our trust, ignored our repeated requests for dialogue, and then tried to erase any sign of those requests. This is really scummy behavior and I expect better from this community. For all this talk of Guild being full of trolls or whatever, the behavior of the staff here is worse than any of the imagined things those "trolls" have done. I don't really care about the personal drama any of you guys have with us or our staff, but you should be able to be able to move past that and try to at least try to make amends.
Also, I'm going to quote that original post I made for posterity.
Hello, I am Jmorphman, a Global Moderator and MUGEN contributor from MUGEN Guild. You may remember me from such educational films as "Two Minus Three Equals Negative Fun" and "Firecrackers: The Silent Killer".
A few months ago, volzilla came to one of our administrators requesting space to host creations from a site he was setting up. Although we usually provide hosting individually, we made an exception. Recently it has to our attention that volzilla has been abusing our trust and has been contacting certain members of the community, asking them or advising them to do certain things which go against the views of our site and forum and will harm the community, especially for newcomers. We have received some complaints about this and we thought we should make this public to avoid any confusion in regards to this matter. For an in-depth look at this you can read this thread over at Guild.
You might want to know that everything hosted on this site is, in actuality, hosted on Guild servers, on a MMV network page. Volzilla apparently failed to mention this at the appropiate places while imposing his "credit where due" policies on others, at least we heard from a couple of people that they were not aware of this. All of you are, of course, free to do as you please and promote your views - on your own site. However, since we strongly disagree with the concept of trying to control the internet and enforcing policies (like "don't upload my stuff at mediafire"), we are no longer going to support volzilla with hosting, and those links will probably go down soonish.
editing out a bunch of crap from first post.
Why am I not surprised. You know you're not doing a very good job of looking like you're in the right if you censor people. Editing people's posts is just about the worst thing any moderator can do. The truth will come out, no matter how much you try to hide it.
I also see you replaced the link with one from you, where you avoid the situation and only talk about some disagreement with ahrimanes. I'm not exactly sure why, that has nothing to do with my post. The ahrimanes incident is just an example of you trying to divide the community and has no bearing on the files.
why, because, wanna talk about shitty, then all this could have been handled by private message
No it couldn't! This is an issue that effects all users on this forum. It deserves to be out in the open for everyone to see. I'm not gonna let you bury this.
instead of going by the guild's MO of "mugen drama is more important than anything" and making a topic about it.
Again, I don't care about drama. Nobody at Guild does. I'm concerned about the users of this site and how you're taking advantage of them.
and for the record, that claim about me doing whatever with creator credits was bullshit. never was i infringing on credit, nor was i ever claiming it as my own.
That's good because we were never claiming that you were doing that.
the original idea of the guild uploading thing was hosted as a team, with all admin (and Arkady) having the ability to upload.
And we were fine with that, except you decided you hated Guild so much you would harass users and tell them to never visit Guild again.
to twist it to anything beyond that is just being spiteful for the sake of being spiteful.
Give me a break.
I'm going to post this again. If you want to show that you're not a power-mad tyrant intent on separating the community and harming it as a result, I'd suggest you not edit it out or delete this.
