It's true that if you own a PS3 then all arguments made by those who don't have one are invalid.

This is going to vary a lot depending on what game you're talking about.

Gill, no question. He's a boss character, and designed with that in mind. He's unplayable in the arcade releases (without mulation cheats), and with good reason.

T. Hawk? T. Hawk has never been considered a cheap character as far as I know. In SSF2 and SSF2T, his 360 does big damage, but that's pretty much his only option. His other moves make it difficult for him to get in and actually land the throw. A good T. Hawk player really makes for some exciting matches, though. Not sure about SFA3, but I don't recall any of the console-only SFA3 characters being anything special.

Blanka? In CvS2, maybe (I honestly know very little about this game, but I've heard Blanka's one of the best characters there), but apart from that? In SSF2T, he's also low in the ranks (although, as with T. Hawk, a good Blanka player can pull off some pretty cool stuff). He was probably better in HF due to the vertical roll that attacked on the way up and on the way down.

As far as ST goes, Vega (claw dude), no question. Fast, good variety of normals with long reach, and wall dive is easy to set up traps and guessing games with. Combine this with the fact that he gains a new move with startup invincibility, perfect for use as a reversal, and he becomes a verydominating character.

T.Hawk is constantly spamming that upwards dive move.

:omg:
Just like Ryu or Ken or Sagat, or even M. Bison "spam" their anti-air?
CPU T.Hawk is one of the easiest characters in SSF2/X

Supposedly, Blanka and Sagat (Due recovery times and overall damage) are the cheapest characters in CvS, Pro and 2.

How come no one mentioned SSF2X Gouki?

Because he goes without saying. ;P I've actually seen a few tourney videos where he was allowed for whatever reason. There was a match with Gouki Vs. Cammy (who is considered one of the worst characters in ST) that was a really great watch.

And yeah, I've heard horror stories of Sagat's crouching fierce in CvS2. Speaking of Sagat and cheapness, Old Sagat is another highly-dominant character in ST, by virtue of taking the fireball/uppercut game to an extreme. His normal ST version really has several disadvantages and few or no advantages compared to his Old/SSF2 mode. Latter has a much more damaging uppercut, and fireballs with quicker recovery time.

^^

World warrior Guile handcuffs, Champions edition Bison for IINM the first Redizzy combo that is able to work without egregious circumstances. I never played enough HF, and ST O Sagat is a beast. SF3 TS Gill is a boss for good reason, if he wasn't he'd have 2 combo stuns easily *thanks to humans being able to double headbutt after anything that launches pretty much which is practically half the stun gauge and huge damage* I on a personal note despise Champions edition Dhalsim, where meatie slide/ meatie drill throw has I think a 75% chance of connecting and it can be repeated with itself over and over again *and since luck is always against me that is bad.

I have many names,

Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned E. Honda in HF and CE (not sure anymore which of the two he was cheaper in).  His travelling hand slap alone could get extreeeemely cheap (effective though) at times; getting in close and then closing in on opponents with a moving wall of damage... frightening stuff sometimes.

Cybaster

Never had SSF2X, so I wouldn't be able to tell about Gouki.

Though in SF2, the "cheapest" chars would be Sagat and maybe Guile. Can't even approach them without getting an anti-air in the face, and they spam projectiles like hell.

As for SFZ, I think none of them is really cheap.
SF3 : Gill is not a boss for nothing, everything else is just balanced IMO.

mugenxero

CE edition honda is not cheap and a few characters in it have him locked down beyond belief *especially guile* CE the fat man couldn't do his sitting move, and thus got owned by very cheesy projectile antics, light sonic boom, wait, react took out 90% of his arsenal and the flash kick could break out of his pressure strings, and if guile uses it when honda has no charge I don't think the light is even punishable at max range >.<

I'd say Ken is really cheap in SFIII3 when playing with S.A. 3 (Shippu Jinrai Kyaku):

Decent defense, decent attack, decent speed, 3 power levels, the super art will ever connect completely since the move "sucks" you, you only need a courching forward to connect; It is invencible against normal moves (i.e.: you can't stop it by connecting a low attack, like Chunner's 2nd S.A.).

I hate him.

Super Street Fighter 2 turbo "Shin Gouki" (when you face Gouki as Gouki).

fast as hell, double Zankuu Kyakku, and is a combo machine that won't have you do 1 single punch.
no other version of him (specially playable versions) ever get near this one.

fight it once, and you will understand why they say Gouki "fights like a demon".

Anzai

I'm surprised no one's complained about Sagat in SFA/Z, what with his 7(!) hit Tiger Uppercut and whatnot. Does a nice chunk of damage too, if memory serves.
Coming soon

Something maybe possibly related to possible maybe Mugen WIP.

SSF2T Shin Gouki is just CPU Gouki, you don't have to be playing as Gouki to fight him. Any character will do.

Spirit_Moon

i thought vega from sf2 arcade was cheap as hell when he was about to lose he abused the cage move till he won!!!! also i thought when i beat vega thats me beat the game he was by the far the hardest boss to get past, sagat and bison are a piss cake compared to cheap ass vega.

oh... thanks for clearing that up. he still the cheapest character on SF series tough. (and cheapest Gouki version... even tough SF3 3rd should be the cheapest canon-wise.)
