Alright, the archived International Board has now been deleted.Reminder:Sepp said, September 04, 2007, 02:18:35 am<[Sepp]> Somebody should go through the tutorial section and move the not-really-developing-relatated tutorials to the GUIDES for beginners section.<[Sepp]> I think there are a lot of get-started tutorials already written... not sure, but I think so.
I started withSepp said, September 04, 2007, 02:18:35 am<[Sepp]> Somebody should go through the tutorial section and move the not-really-developing-relatated tutorials to the GUIDES for beginners section. Not done yet. To be continued. Is there anything still in the archived W.I.P. Discussion (excluding the MK3 child board) that should be moved elsewhere? Otherwise we can delete this archive section in a few days, I think.
Does it really have to go? People (including me) may feel like looking at old stuff once in a while. Can you make a backup of the whole archive before deleting stuff, and rapidshare it (or something)? Would be nice to have an "Old Guild" CD, for whatever comes up.
L.o.t.S. said, October 13, 2007, 11:00:14 amDoes it really have to go? Not at all, if somebody still finds it interesting.CD backups, hm, I'll link Val to your post. Edit: -MemoServ- Memo sent to Valodim.
Sepp said, October 12, 2007, 05:11:47 pmwe can delete this archive section in a few days, I think. For whatever it's worth, deleting material from the archives would be a surefire way of getting me to quite very intensely dislike you, forever.Whereas this:L.o.t.S. said, October 13, 2007, 11:00:14 amCan you make a backup of the whole archive[...], and rapidshare it (or something)?would have the opposite effect. Especially if search can still be made to work with it. I've been intending to request a copy of the immediately pre-paradigm-shift MFGF database (minus confidential stuffs) ever since first witnessing the new layout and its deleted accounts...
L.o.t.S. said, October 13, 2007, 11:00:14 amDoes it really have to go? People (including me) may feel like looking at old stuff once in a while.I second thatwhat's bad in letting the archive alive ???
Sepp said, September 04, 2007, 02:18:35 am<[Sepp]> Somebody should go through the tutorial section and move the not-really-developing-relatated tutorials to the GUIDES for beginners section.Done, at last.* Sepp has gotten the point and leaves the archive alone.
just to beat a dead horse.archive's by their very definition are to be kept as intact as possible if you were going to tear it down then an alternate name would have been better.
That thread with the optional standards for Mugen characters (ie: Getting burnt, midnight bliss, etc.) plus the trait identifiers would come in handy. Sadly it's not in the archive
http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=9151.0That the topic you meant? (Lots of Ash's posts are missing from when he/Vinny? tried to get his account deleted before NewGuild.)http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=17667.0http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=25109.0
Yeah, was talking about the first one. Didn't notice it since it was under a different name back then.
Sepp said, October 15, 2007, 11:09:55 pmThat the topic you meant? (Lots of Ash's posts are missing from when he/Vinny? tried to get his account deleted before NewGuild.)That one's much older, there was another one with more stuff in it. I still have it in a txt file... but to be fair KFM made that list and it's up to him to post it or not.
Quotebut to be fair KFM made that list and it's up to him to post it or not.no actually, we abandoned that thinking. not altogether, but this is a case where I don't think holding back info "because he says so" makes much sense \\ edithaha, I just now got that -memoserv- message. you should jabber/icq me if you want me to read your messages sepp Not sure how to realize a "cd version" of this... also, I don't know if I have a full database setup from before the "paradigm-shift"... gonna have a look. great word btw
Actually, Sepp (or whichever admin), I believe it may be too late. I seem to already permanently despise you. Can't seem to find my ReversalDef + Helper thread, among other things.I wonder if the Internet Archive will ever manage to add full text search of their archive. Valodim said, October 20, 2007, 02:53:03 pmI don't know if I have a full database setup from before the "paradigm-shift"...Of course you have a full database backup. What kind of fool would make such a large forum modification without making a full database backup?
Winane said, October 26, 2007, 03:06:07 pmCan't seem to find my ReversalDef + Helper thread, among other things.Tutorial section? A topic like that shouldn't be missing. What kind of content/keywords did it contain, who else posted in it and when did you last see it (err...)?"among other things?"
QuoteI wonder if the Internet Archive will ever manage to add full text search of their archive. Nope, never. You'll have to become an employee or some such. And sorry for becoming a part of you hate forever list. I thought the archive would be permanently untouched then Sepp decided it'd be a good idea to delete threads he thought were unimportant.
Messatsu said, October 27, 2007, 03:03:07 amYou'll have to become an employee or some such.Well, unless there's some legal issues involved, I'd guess that lack of sufficient hardware to handle the searching of such a large database is probably the main reason they haven't implemented full text search.Sepp said, October 26, 2007, 11:21:46 pmTutorial section?Creation Help Forum, I believe.Sepp said, October 26, 2007, 11:21:46 pmA topic like that shouldn't be missing.Agreed.Sepp said, October 26, 2007, 11:21:46 pmWhat kind of content/keywords did it contain, who else posted in it and when did you last see it (err...)?Keywords = "ReversalDef" & "Helper"Title = something like "ReversalDef + Helper = >_<"Topic starter = WinaneOther posters = Byakko (or Baiken), probably P.o.t.S., and I forget for sure who else.Last seen = April 23, 2007, if not later.Sepp said, October 26, 2007, 11:21:46 pm"among other things?"Yes.My Training Mode Detection Code thread appears to be AWOL too (now along with my website from which I directly linked to said thread), to name just one.You guys haven't reimplemented any auto-purging, have you?And Valodim, would you be so kind as to set up a new member group, with all normal admin powers, except without permissions to delete anything whatsoever other than self's posts, and then assign Sepp to that member group? If I'm recalling correctly, this isn't even the first time he's gone and needlessly deleted the results of countless hours of research, along with other content of interest. Sorry, but I don't particularly like the forums I make use of being treated as Buddhist sand paintings...
Winane said, October 27, 2007, 09:24:35 pm Sepp said, October 26, 2007, 11:21:46 pmTutorial section?Creation Help Forum, I believe. Then at least . . . at least there's no mystery involved. Sepp said, September 02, 2007, 09:12:21 pmThe archived Setup & Configuration Help, Creation Help Forum, Private MUGEN Creator and Staff sections have been emptied of most topics. My postcount went down by 400. I went through all Staff, Private and . . . only a few pages of the Creation Help section before. QuoteMy Training Mode Detection Code thread appears to be AWOL too, to name just one.()=$%&"§!QuoteYou guys haven't reimplemented any auto-purging, have you?Definitely not.Jah, umm, and so I just built a membergroup granting admin-like permissions but no deletion of posts/topics by others. Means I also know how to circumvent and even go back to full status, but having to do that should remind me of why I put myself in there and make me triple-check before continuing. sry
