OK (TAO), it came :omg:
The War is going to start.

But i also want to know, do most Black americans really hate the Boondocks cartoon/comic?
I never saw the episodes (thankfully), but I hated most of the comic strips. There were a few good ones, but most were just.....ugh. It's own "black satire" is what killed it.
Curtis is much, MUCH better.
Thankful for what? Not watching a cartoon? Is it because Aaron McGruder was'nt afraid to satire the truth along with stereotypes providing a message at the end that struck a nerve to make you feel guilty?
That part we get. We're just saying the cartoon is stupid. It lacks form, it lacks writing, it lacks funny. The idea is interesting, but still it is just/only the "timeless" cliche that people keep laughing at over and over, and somehow never get tired of. Come on, we've seen this time and time again; you could actually accompany the show with something 'funny,' rather than just the god damn idea, right?

Im a Black Man and The Boondocks is one of the most Funny and Thought invoking cartoons to ever come out.
Wow, really. Seeing that you kind of flamed us, I'll say you must be a simpleton    /JK
You took what we were saying on a tangent that wasn't on point. It looks like your answered how you wanted to without even considering what the conversation was about :omg:

The key word there is "own."  I see nothing black involved in any aspect of that show. All I see is the same thing repeated, repeated, and repeated . I mean, I've seen kids laugh at Uncle Ruckus saying, "I love white people. I hate black people." for 30-something episodes.
...
Im glad that Uncle rucker is is in the cartoon and the cartoon is considered Canon now.
...
Do you know what Uncle Ruckus character is for?
He does'nt just say he hates Black people for no reason. He explains and Rants because Aaron McGruder uses his expression say what white uppity people think about Ignorant Blacks in High Cirlces. If Uncle Ruckus was a white man Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and all the other Non N-word using activist would have work for the next 5 years protesting the show. Only cause Aaron McGruder (The creator) is Black this is Overlooked most of the time.
First of all, WTF point are you making, and how in the hell does that relate to what we've been saying?
I could care less about whether you liked him or not. What I'm saying is that in EVERY SINGLE Episode, of  EVERY SINGLE season all he says is the same thing over and over again and people somehow never cease to get tired. If you like him, that's fine, but I think people that those that have still laughed after the umpteenth time, are forcing it, or don't know what it is that they're laughing about at all. Yeah, obviously there's a point in having the character, but come on. You can't change him a bit out of 2,3,4 seasons?? You can't give me something clever rather than the same iold lines??
Yes, a black person heads the whole operation, and yes, it would be the good thing to do to support that black person, but if that black person sits up and starts taking advantage of my blind support, why the Fuck should I still sit in his/her corner.
If the work is SHIT, I am gone. I don't give a damn who heads it after that.

Why does The Count always count? Why does Johnny Bravo always hit on chicks? etc etc.

It's a character trait. Having him go through any major character development would defeat the purpose of having him in the first place.

I mean, yeah, I like Boondocks. I think it's a great show. But do I really care if you don't like it? No, not really, as long as you get your facts straight. If you don't find it funny, fine by me. But character traits define a character. Ruckus is vocal about how much better whites are over blacks (giving a sense of irony to his character). Huey is generally intelligent, if a bit smug at times. And on and on. I believe it's Ruckus' rants are done in a way that's funny (or at least slightly amusing) most of the time, but he shouldn't *change*. Having Ruckus change is like, say, Peter Parker making a deal with Mestipho.

I'll give you that Bravo one,  ;) [I used to love that show].
I'm not even necessarily saying to change the character up to make him grow, I'm just saying make his word choice different/funny, but on the same point. I mean, it's repetition, over repetition, over repetition. Chappelle had Tyrone Biggums who said the same basic thing, "I like Crack,", but he had complete variations on where/when/the situations/who he was around/how/the construction in what he was saying, all of which kept me laughing. Why can't Ruckus have that?? Why can't that Crack Loving Guy from the PJs have that??

I'm wondering why you felt the need to bold and blue this. Anyway the above answers you.
Actually let me re-iterate my main point.
I'm not saying change the character, I'm saying make him funny [by changing his diction or something].

I... bold/blue all of my posts... at least most of them.

I'm not even necessarily saying to change the character up to make him grow, I'm just saying make his something word choice different/funny, but on the same point. I mean, it's repetition, over repetition, over repetition. Why can't Ruckus have that?? Why can't that Crack Loving Guy from the PJs have that??

But Ruckus *did* have variations involving how inferior blacks were/how superior whites were. Hell, in the Luna episode, all Ruckus really said was, ultimately, that there really couldn't be any beautiful black woman, although he did mention putting make up on a monkey and making her look good.

I mean, at least he does say different things depending on context.

Also, who else is stupid enough to post in this ridiculous bolded blue font on a regular basis?

No, what I was saying is that your points came out of, well, wherever they came from. You may have wanted to keep the topic going, but by quoting our points and answering in the way you did, you made points that were totally unrelated to ours.
That sentence about Peter Griffin didn't make sense to me  :-\ . Where did the part about him being cool(OK/Passable) because he's white come from, concerning this thread?? Of the episodes I've watched, nothing racially serious/significant ever happened. BTW, isn't Peter Griffin a black slave's descendant?_?
[BTW, I think Family Guy sucks now. Season 1-2.5 were pretty good. On -> :omg:]

  • Not the best time to realize your claustraphobic.
peter griffin is the descendant of a slave who was owned coincidentally by his wife's family, his father was a drunk irishman [and has a walking-talking lamb named O'Brian] and he was born in mexico cause thats where his mom wanted to have the abortion [by piniata!!?? Seth McFarland YOU RACIST @$$H*LE]
I honestly cant stand the show, half of the episode is what is happenning in the Griffin's lives, and the other half is a bunch of references to old re hashed jokes. And American Dad is just too Toolish for my preferences

There is no need to get p'Od at each other, were discussing Black Video game figures and the Stereotypes in video games.

I know Super Mario is sort of a stereotype, but if Miyamoto originally knew what a real italian does to get a white girl named Peach or what "plumbing" actually is, i think Link or Samus would have been Nintendo's best Mascot. I doubt they would of wanted a Monkey [DK] who "takes white girls away from short guys in an effort to make them go through a rigurous obstacle course to save them and the defeat the monkey".
 --;
Ya know, now that i think about it, japanese videogame writers back then seem to be really shortsided about a lot of things.

Does anybody remember from the NES, or Genesis, or even early PS era, stereotypes??  I know Sonic the Hedgehog was originally Black.  Considering he was voiced by Jaleel White [Urkel himself] in both original cartoons.
He was fast, cocky, has two girl "friends", imitators and haters, became faster when ever he gets the "new shoes" Power UP, talked trash to his enemies, was always collecting gold rings and Chaos emeralds, and there was this evil white nerdy fat bastard always trying to kill him with all of his robotic resources and always fails, because sonic is fast.

Not a big Sonic fan either, just remembering the facts.

whoa we were how did that happen, cuz i remember in the first post

Regarding African American Characters in Fighting games... man it just got tense in here :gulp:

back in the early days, i suppose it was simply an evolution of character and art, but simply the portraits of some of the fictional african american characters is... god awful ugly in my opinion, take skate from streets of rage and brown bullet from agressors of dark combat. Such ugly children. Before anyone screams racist yes i am african american, and no i'm not even gonna touch Lucky Glauber and SNK+Black People = Basketball that's something for another place. your thoughts and opinions??

  • I've got ballllls of steeellll.
I'm a bit late since this thread became a complete piece of shit, but I'll join in the rumble one more time.  I apologize in advance.

Bottled water is the greatest way to waste money I can think of.
Town water is fine, unsure of city water.
Yeah town water across the entire world is completely fine...  except for my home town (I don't live there anymore) where a company poured their excess battery acid into the town's water supply and gave many who drank it all sorts of cancer (including many children).  Who could blame them though since nobody knew about the horrible act until recently (along with why all the cancer was happening), 25 years after the company folded.

So I guess making generalizing statements out of your ass without knowing anything is fine too.
