yeah... same thing with google's.

still, most bots (with the exception very specific or high profile ones, like the one of your article, that seemed to have being created specifically for Hotmail) are dumb enough to not override it. this is enough for "small" board like ours and some others to use it.

the captcha probably stops 82% of all bots ou there. the 18% that got trough it, we can deal by banning the IP etc.

and from my own experience (I had coded a commentary system for my site that did not have a captcha system), I'm sure that captcha here is doing a marvelous job.

..this thing hit the internet years after captcha was all around, and it probably took about factor 1000 development time to get a working recognition engine done, so it was pretty effective. still is, if you're not a huge target like hotmail.
