It really doesn't matter. Are you going to go to each emulation or homebrew forum and tell them that they're dicks for breaking encryption on all your favorite consoles? No. So why start here? Just let it go.

one of the points of the thread is that moleboxing isn't as safe as you'd like to think it is. if ilusionista didn't post about it someone else would have. anyone that wanted to unmolebox anything could have just done a google search and found this tutorial or a similar one. wake up, people.

FINALLY someone got the idea. Is as "illegal" as using ArtMoney, since you will being  doing, like in Artmoney:
- mapping the memory area
- intercepting the inputs and the outputs from the processor
- hexediting the values
- extracting the stuf

So, there is no need to cry.

I didn't read the entire post and I'm not going to so... does this "method" works even with heavy encryption?

AFAIK, yes.

LOL man Olu, you really dug your own hole this time huh?  :sugoi:

bah, as I really care about it :) People said that I've dugged my own hole some many times, hahaha.

I won't get into the moral debate here, but I have to say it was kind of nice having a couple of SHADEs characters that you could only play as in the SHADEs full game, but now people will unpack and warehouse. I won't cry about it, but it does take some of the fun out of exclusivity. Although anyone who does use those unpacked characters, prepare for brokenness and debug floods.

Also, just to be clear, and yes I realize no one was really asking, but SHADEs 2 is not cancelled.

yes, I know it. But that wasn't my intention, sorry if I bring any trouble. But people would warehouse  anyway anything that is released on internet, saddly.

Is that thing: When you have something, you can use it for good and for bad. It depends on people moral.

For example, the new fighter factory let you copy images from another sff. That was intended to be useful to creator of full game projects who has the same basic effects for many chars, like me or even Shades, to speed up the process. But, sure, some people will be using this feature to steal, you can be sure of it.

Since 2005, actually, and every update since version 2.2.X

Hell, googling it gives you hundreds of tutorials.

The only downside of showing it here is that being a big site for the community, many leechers not have the knowledge and fastest resource for doing this.

Not that this is the problem, actually doing it, it's more of a creator-to-creator moral standpoint, shaza.

So, MoleBox is 'now' insecure? Wow, great news. People should move on, and learn that there's nothing secure on this world.

Why are all of you attacking Ilu? Granted, he posted one way to extract the contents of a moleboxed game, but this is not the only way to do it. A quick search on google will take you to hundreds of places with more detailed tutorials.

And people, please think for a while... do you really expect the average mugen leecher/n00b is able to perform all the necessary steps for unpacking the contents?? I believe you are overreacting and making a big fuss from it.

The only ones that have the skills to unpack the content are wise enough to figure by their own how to look things in google, and believe me, they have known this method for ages.

also take into consideration how molebox is mostly used for fullgame characters that only work properly against eachother, if they did manage to extract a character chances are it would be full of incompatibility issues in regular mugen.

Also, just to be clear, and yes I realize no one was really asking, but SHADEs 2 is not cancelled.
laxxe tends to overreact to these things so i didnt really take his word for it ;D but it's still great to know you're not cancelling it

Yeah, this is something peoplem really don't understand. If who used Molebox thinks that "I, am secure and nobody will steal from me"....need REALLY to think again. Nothing is secure. And this isn't something new...I knew this method right after I knew Molebox. {_Carnificina_}, an retired creator from MugenBR, already told us how to do this, in another way.

Surely it's common sense that any process such as 'moleboxing' is likely to be reversible.  Doesn't make the tool useless though; if the developers are on the ball they'll keep updating it as fast as people can crack it, so if you use the latest version you should have at least a window of protection.  That's about all you can realistically hope for.  Note that the method given in the original post applies to version 2.2.5, which is at least a couple of years old.

I wonder how many of the guys complaining for the molebox incident and emailing the autors actually paid for it.
Excellent question :grin2:
