When people refer to a template for a full game they mean a very stripped down base character that just contains the common mechanics, hitspark/guardsparks, sounds, etc. of a character for said style but does not or rarely contain character sprites in it. People also tend to use another base character to do so and strip it down to be a template but this tends to be a bit of a pain compared to just a template.

Its defnitely better than ai especially with low spritecount (below 8), AI looks like its morphing between frames without actual intelligence.

Interprite defiantly does a better job with that since it does have context for what it's drawing with the sprite areas and bones, while the AI is just making it's best guesses upon what the next sprite is. While it does make very good guesses you can see even with sakura's win pose example, you can see that shades disappear in her skirt and legs, her hands somewhat fade to the next position rather than morphing properly. While interptie as jittery as it is does attempt to draw new area's with the sprite since it does have context. I guess it depends what's easier to work with.

Its interprite with quite a lot of patching later, i used interptite to speed it up and to figure out where limbs should be and copy them from other frames using aseprite's rotsprite tool, its also preserving palette,

ah, yea I remember testing out that interprite program when I first heard about it. The results are pretty good considering it's using no AI whatsoever compared to dian-app with even with more frames arguably looks worse since they tend to have a smudging effect to them


The only real complaint I have and it's a bit of a non issue is that you're forced to use bmp files with the frames only (not sure why it couldn't support png files) and copying frames is a bit clunky (having to export them and reimport, rather than just being to ctrl-c ctrl-v them)

Very sold character with great sprites, I did find some quirks with Beast not much though
  • It's more advantageous to miss the first two hits of Beast Unleashing than it is to hit them https://streamable.com/0daydy canceling out the damage dampener
  • The hard variant of beast slash is a really good crossup which can be hard to block up close if not ready to microwalk from it. Not sure if it should be nerfed or not since it is a good tool https://streamable.com/gcd98a

Nah they're right I've been focusing on too many waifus. I've been working on some male characters too but they are mostly updates to preexisting chars, mostly patches.

However, if I can get skilled enough at this, I plan to work on any of the following: Claw, Q, Hugo, Ash (remake), Blanka, or a remake of Dictator (Bison). Aside from that, does anyone have any good ideas to suggest for a new CvS2 style char? At some point I considered doing Evil Ryu and Evil Ken (Reu version) but fit it into CvS2 style. Idk, if anyone has some good ideas feel free to drop some.

Some Feedback and suggestions:
  • When running the engine again there's a spelling mistake on "the" with the "Oops, you can only run one instance of yhe engine at the same time"
  • Text mode on anims is gone (it was a hidden but useful feature) which was handy when you needed to go through an anim file to check for errors, and it's much faster than fixing them using the "edit code in text" button
  • Another thing from FF3 that should be reimplemented is the fact you can have .def files associated with FF3 and can open characters/stages/etc. from their folder rather than needing to open them up in the program like you do in FFS

Sounds convoluted but ambitious. If it does happen, I'll surely have a chance at it.

It is somewhat but I feel it could be a pretty decent twist on the YT AI watch series idea that you saw a few years back. Currently just trying to implement said nerfing system in ZSS since that would defiantly break the staleness that they bring with the more top tier characters slowly getting nerfed over time with their attack and maybe defense if need be when they rack up those Ws. It's been uh... "fun" so far trying to implement that.

EDIT: Pretty much have the nerfing system down pat, just need to get the buffing system along with the saving and loading functions to load properly
