When I taunt with Sakura it makes me unable to do anything after she finishes. That's the only major thing I've found so far, I havent done that much with it yet so I can't really comment on anything else here right now

There will be an open beta test February 20th-24th. Eight characters will be playable but it has not been said who exactly.

Because it is an open beta test, you don't have to have pre-ordered the game in order to access it, and it will be on every system the game will be launching on. Even bigger is that, on the console versions, you don't need any paid online services like xbox live or PS plus in order to play it, meaning that it is, and I cannot stress this enough, completely free to access.

I remember you saying that wild wolf was gonna use the mark of the wolves spriteset, but because that spriteset was missing a lot of necessary animations, you werent able to properly work on him. How are you going to handle the missing animations when you get to him a second time?

I would first like to bring up that we have the "does this exist" thread, which covers stuff that does not have a specific name or author tied to it, alongside things that people are uncertain about existing

But outside of that, I dont know if youre referring to the "version select" wing usually has at the beginning of matches or actual in-game transformations, but if it's the former then probably the closest youre going to get would be karmacharmeleon's capcom vs snk-inspired rugal, which has modes for regular rugal, omega rugal (composite of the 98 and 2002 incarnations), and god rugal, but as separate def files that work with the same set of files despite all playing like different characters.

Don drago also has classic SNK bosses, like geese and goenitz, with multiple modes that actually can be selected at the start of a match, and while his versions actually are based on KoF gameplay, he did not make a rugal in a similar fashion.

I think it may actually be a back turned stance, he does switch in and out of it and when he's actually in it, a lot of the moves he's doing are not from garou 1. My first impression was that it was a cosmetic thing like how characters in older smash games turn their back when facing the opposite direction, but upon further inspection I later figured out it may have not been that. Its a bit of a shame hotaru also doesnt have stances, she had two stances in NGBC and I dont really think anyone really experimented with them after that game.

Is anyone getting the feeling that these trailers are a little... short? It kinda feels like theyre going "hey youre probably familiar with these characters so we may not need to show much" and only ever really showing a few moves and the level 3. I want to see a bit more of what the characters can do and how the game looks in general, and while I dont really expect actual competitive gameplay videos for a while, I do kinda want them to show off characters for a bit longer, especially for those new to the series who werent able to get their hands on garou 1 (despite it being on quite a few platforms) and never really saw how these characters performed in that.

Also....has Mai always had black hair?

I always thought it was more of a dark brown than a black but I could be wrong. There's been some cases where it's a medium brown (like fatal fury 2/special iirc) but most of the time it's been darker.

i dont think mugen does 8v8, i could be wrong ive been gone a while

It does not do 8v8. By default the maximum for simul is 2v2, and the only patches available for simul replace 2v2 with 3v3 and 4v4.

Since OP said they didnt want to use ikemen for it I kinda think theyre SOL since that's the only mugen content engine that actually does support simul mode with teams of more than 2 chars (4 with the patch).

I am a little weirded out by the fact that nobody has mentioned Josh Geary yet but I'm not really surprised given not a lot of people outside of the "dumb kid scene" of the early 2010s really cared about the controversies surrounding him.

He did say a bit earlier into the thread that he wanted to have capcom characters only because he wanted the game to be more of a tribute to the capcom games he grew up with, so I probably just wouldn't expect any namco characters at all

Juke and soy sauce feel more like general KoF than specifically 2002 or UM, so I probably wouldnt list them
For some authors nobody else has mentioned yet, I could probably mention mondregon and noobic cube, who have done 2002 UM conversions but probably aren't as good as the others people have brought up

I feel that Jae Hoon would have to show up if Dong Hwan is there, despite the fact that they've only really been in one game before now I can't really see one coming back without the other. In terms of other MoTW vets, Gato already has assets available and I feel like they may be continuing the Maximum Mayhem story with Kain, so those are the two I probably feel are most guaranteed. Freeman feels a little more expendable but he does have his fans, but I have no idea how vocal they're actually going to be if he doesn't show up.

I also feel like Dong Hwan probably has the worst animations of the cast so far, particularly with his rapid kicks and that kuusa jin EX chain thing he does. Maybe I wasn't actually too far off with my initial doubts...

Not sure if you solved your problem but despite the fact that Camren/Achilldude took down his sumin imitation website, the mediafire links still seem to work. Can't really say much on the others

Darkstalkers itself has chain combos but WHAT'S THE POINT OF EVEN HAVING THEM IF I CAN'T GO FROM LP>MP>HP>Special>Super?!

You could pressure people with them by using them as a blockstring, you could get a hard knockdown with them if you do a crouching magic series that would end with a sweep, and probably do some other things I don't really know about. Since you wouldn't be using them in an actual combo you would mainly be trying to use them in different ways or working around the limitation of them not being special/super cancelable. Someone who is probably more familiar with darkstalkers gameplay could probably talk about it better than I could.
