I just started getting into this tool recently and it is truly awesome. Definitely has some kinks that need to be worked out, such as not being able to use the Dpad to control the characters (if it is possible, I can't figure out how to do it), but it is beyond what I thought would ever be possible in Mugen.
Another feature that would cool to add and really handy is to allow select screens to be scrollable. I have A LOT of mugen characters as I'm sure most of us do, and it would be cool to not have to edit every screenpacks select screen to accommodate for all of them. Plus it would be nice to see bigger character icons on the select screen too as opposed to 3x3's.

I've always really liked this stage and this version is the best version of it that I've seen thus far. I love the colors a lot and the rain and lightning goes perfect with it. It might be cool looking if you added some graffiti to the statue of liberty and/or some other areas like the purple pillar, and also maybe have some occasional trash or debris blow by like a newspaper or something. Anyway, thanks again for another great stage to add to the roster. You're stages are among my favorites.

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but is it possible to zip characters and stages and still load them in Mugen? If it is, can someone please explain how to properly do it in the Select.def? I tried zipping a character and then inputting:

mvc_beast.zip, order=1

...in the Select and it didn't work. I've used Mugen for like 15 years now, and for some reason this question has crossed my path, but now I'm starting to run out of space and my Mugen folder is like 70-80 gigs. Just curious if anyone knows if this is possible and how to do it.

edit/update:
Don't everyone answer at once lol. Just joking. I was able to answer my own question though, and as suspected, I'm an idiot. Problem fixed.

This is such a great take on Beast, you guys did an amazing job and should be extremely proud. As mentioned by everyone, the sprites are outstanding, and the coding/gameplay feels great. This was totally out of left field for me, but one of the coolest releases I've seen in a long time (bias opinion since I'm a die hard comic fan).
- I haven't tested the new update, but based off the initial release I think that he feels a little too generous in the ass kicking department, and is able to go off a little too much when doing combos, which gives him a somewhat unpolished feel imo. He's too good lol. He's effective from any range and can turn almost anything into a massive combo in any scenario. He's like a mashers delight, with zero learning curve which to me, the fun part of trying new characters in fighting games is figuring out how to use them. With all that said though, I have no suggestions. Maybe...slow him down. Maybe.

- I think he could benefit from some more sounds as well. He seems to only have 1 grunting sound that is used for all his attacks, as well as his taunt. The only time he speaks is during his Intro. He would feel a lot more complete and Beastly if he had some more Beast specific sounds and voice clips. The lack of sounds give him a KFM feeling, at least to me, and I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say that. Just being honest and trying to help.

- Would you consider adding at least 1 more taunt where he says some type of comment to the enemy?

Have only tested him for a few minutes now, but just have to say great update so far. The combos are easier to pull off now with the "B hits" adjustments. Special intro against Luigi is also pretty dope, and his run is much more believable with the added effect which may seem minor in the big scheme, but was needed. No bugs or glitches yet, but I'm just getting started. Thanks for sharing, and again, great work on the update.

Sounds good, I appreciate the consideration. I confused the hyper names, sorry about that. I was talking about The Netherrealm though. That makes sense that it causes him to take less damage while in that mode/realm, so I was wrong about it not doing anything. It's just weird that after it goes to the black screen, that it flashes the Netherrealm background image about 6 times before fully going to it and it is about a 30 second transition. It might be better to have the transition be instant or at least much faster and not flash the bg image. Maybe you could have Scorpion grab the opponent (maybe quickly sink into the ground), then have the screen fade to black, then fade back in to the Netherrealm. Just an idea, but obviously I want you to do whatever you think is best. Anyway, thanks again and keep up the good work.

Oh yeah, I definitely downloaded her again after hearing that, and thanks for another update as well. I still have to test her out though, but will give feedback when I do, which will be later today.

I just gave a good 1-2 hour run with Scorpion though, and he's amazing. Like I said in the Sub-Zero thread, the positives FAR outweigh the negatives, if you can even call them that. With that said, here's all I got for Scorpion...

Outstanding job with him man, he's fricken awesome! He plays extremely good, and I love everything that you've done with him. He needs a little more to him to be on par with your Scorpion, but so far he is really fun and coming along really good. If I wrote all the positives, everything below would be 2-4 times bigger in size. But as for feedback/suggestions, reference spoiler.

I just downloaded the update and haven't tested it yet, but this character is amazing and every time you update him he only gets better and better. I'm sure this is going to be yet another great update from reading the changelog. Thank you very much for this character, and continuing to improve him. I'm definitely looking forward to Grandmaster Sub-Zero as well. Super pumped.

I'd say that was more closer to a standing animation showcase lol, at least Godzilla's portrayal. He is a good character to play as, but that ai sure leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm assuming you tried to config your controller but the D Pad still wouldn't respond, so try deleting the ddraw.dll & other mugen hooked stuff & see if it fix's the problem. Deleting those shouldn't hurt running the game.[/color]

I tried what you suggested and removed all the MugenHook stuff as well as ddraw.dll, and the result was the same. I then redownloaded a fresh copy of the game and removed all that same stuff prior to running it for the first time so no mugenhook stuff would install/configure, and again, the result is the same. Up and down work on the Dpad, but left and right act like attack buttons, but for P2 and not P1. I'm not sure what's going on, or why this is different than any other mugen game, but it simply can't be played with a Dpad unfortunately. All good though, it is what it is. I just wanted you to know what happened as a result of what you suggested. I'm kind of glad it doesn't seem to be caused by MugenHook though, because those features are something that got me really excited to play this game.

The reflections look really good as does the rest of the stage, nicely done. IMO, the foreground and background colors are too similar though. It may improve the visual aspect of the stage to darken the bottom half of the floor and foreground some, but keep the background and water the same. Here's a quick example.

Huh, that's weird cause the dpad has always worked in M1.1. I wonder if Mugen Hook is causing it not to not work properly. Either way, it's not a big deal. I just figured I'd mention it in the chance there was a quick way to resolve it. I can still use the joystick which is fine.

So far this is already amazing and extremely well designed. Is this actually built on Mugen 1.0 though? I ask because I use a controller to play Mugen, and in 1.0 and up you can use the Dpad for directions, but on Winmugen you can't. In this game, I can't use the Dpad which makes me think it is actually a winmugen game. Would it be possible to enable the Dpad? It just feels awkward playing a fighting game with a joystick or keyboard, at least for me.

This is awesome news O! I'm glad to hear this project is still alive and well, and looking great. All the characters are looking really cool so far, and as mentioned above me, the effects are awesome. Just out of curiosity, is Power Gear (Alex), going to get any sprite edits to alter his appearance like the rest of the cast? He's the only one that stands out since he is visually the same old Alex. Either way is fine, I'm just wondering. His moveset is really cool though, but in my opinion he is too fast and seems like he should be a slower more brutish play style. Anyways, thanks for sharing the update status and good luck to the team on finishing it up.

I appreciate you giving me credit for the alt portraits in some of your recent releases, but I checked through all the sprites of each character and I didn't see any portraits that were made by me, except Magneto's and that one is ancient.
As for Black Widow, she feels much better now and performing combos with her now doesn't feel forced like it did to me in the past. She kind of feels like a mix of MvC, MKX, and DBFZ with the added wall bouncing and OTG, which I think is awesome. I haven't ran into any bugs yet either which is a plus. As far as I can tell, great work and great improvement. I'm loving these edits you're releasing lately
