If WB is smart then the very first things they should do are giving the roster a full-fledged voice cast, give them fun interactions like in the NRS fighters, and make a decent/mediocre story mode for people to look forward to. Those three things alone are certainly gonna get a lot more people to talk about the game than NASB, which was completely relying on just being a "competitor-friendly Smash".

They should also be careful about the roster. It'd be quite the wasted opportunity if they don't put in Scorpion and/or Sub-Zero despite how obvious they are as choices for WB crossover game. And if they get to put a Season Pass (I'm betting on it cuz' they are successful with that), there should at least be some characters that don't belong to Warner in them like they did with Alien and Predator, maybe some more horror characters, maybe something from toys like He-Man or hell, they could have another crossover with the WWE a put fucking John Cena in it.

I definitely believe that WB has a lot more tools to draw attention with a Smash-like title than Nick does, and it'd be rather baffling if they don't give this title a bigger budget.

I know some more but I’m holding off on sharing until after the game’s revealed.

I was told that the origin of this game was actually due to the memes based around Shaggy getting into Mortal Kombat in his “Ultra Instinct” form. Obviously NR wasn’t going to put him in a game like Mortal Kombat, so ideas were tossed around and Warner Bros. loved the idea of combining their properties and establishing more Warner crossovers. As you obviously saw in Space Jam 2.

This isn’t the only one in active development and those at NR/Warner have known this for awhile now. It’s an open secret in the industry that fter the success of Smash Ultimate, combined with Nintendo’s complete tone-deafness towards their audience and playerbase, a lot of Western Studios have begun to capitalize on the opportunity to make their own platform fighter that doesn’t treat their playerbase and competitive players like shit. The numbers competitive smash, especially Melee, pulls is not lost on the Western studios and the opportunity to take a slice of that pie is extremely apparent.

Netherrealm isn’t the last. I know of at least 2 others with major IP that are developing others, all based off Melee’s speed and depth. Netherrealm i just have the most info on because, well, I won’t say anymore so I don’t get fired. But there’s at least one other that, as a studio, is significantly bigger than us and you already know a little about it. All I’ll say on that because I don’t have much info.

Yes, bringing back everyone in Ultimate would be an impossible task, but I think these two quotes show pretty well that he can still keep doing games and more Smash entries if Nintendo wants him to. Obviously, such things are still far from the future, and we probably won't hear jack about another Smash game until the next Nintendo system, but getting him back to direct that title isn't an impossibility.

Personally, I think he's the only person that can do something to the franchise after such monumental game. It's probably gonna go through some similar flacks like UMvC3 suffered from the smaller roster, but that doesn't mean it can't be a great game and it would have less problematics than lending the franchise to another dev who has to fill the monumental shoes of Ultimate.

Yeah, I don't really think Nintendo cares that much about promoting third party releases. I don't want that SMTV guy at all, but Nintendo isn't gonna say "no" to him just because he'd be a tie-in release for a game that isn't owned by them.

Yea, I'm not going to pretend I know what's left either. Ninty does pretty much have their all star lineup already in.

But they also have a vast library of IPs. They can pull something out there if they really want to and it wouldn't be the first time they've done so. Who remembered the Ice Climbers before Melee or Pit before Brawl?

Well, not gonna start a debate here, but let's just keep this in mind: those two characters were chosen by Sakurai, not Nintendo. I think one can definitely see the difference between them (not recent, chosen for curiosity and future plans) and Byleth, Min Min and Pyra/Mythra (chosen to tie in to recent games).

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Every single "leak" is wrong and is someone trying to get their 15 minutes. When was the last time a so called leak ended up being accurate? I don't think any of them even listed Kazuya as a character.

Whatever guidelines Ninty uses to choose potential candidates for Smash probably have Sora qualify for it, but he's such a HUGE shot in the dark that not only are you firing blind, you don't even have any idea where the target even is. Sora has the nasty caveat of having to go through 2 companies that are pretty tough to work with. I feel like Sora isn't really worth going through the hassle when you can still get other star characters with less of a headache. Heck, Ninty themselves probably still have a few characters of their own they could use.
Gotta put an objection there.
People are going like, oh Nintendo probably has characters of their own, my response to that is: like who? For real, a lot of the candidates are going through one or more obstacles:
Ring Fit Adventure? Spirit event messes with that but it means nothing to the millions of copies it's still selling to this very day.
Luigi's Mansion 3? Could work, but it's not like Nintendo had big plans for that game.
Astral Chain? Same spirit event issue, probably less problematic because that was years ago, but still. Also the game is done and well beyond any chance of DLC support to keep it around like Xenoblade.
Animal Crossing? Could see happen.
Zelda? Knowing how badly treated is the Zelda roster in Smash (it's just three Links, Zelda, Shiek and Ganondorf), I'd be shocked if they actually included a character from there.
Kirby? Maybe.
Unless you wanna also include characters with big requests like Waluigi, there's no reason to believe Nintendo has that many characters to use. And not just that, Min-Min and Pyra/Mythra had more going for them than just being recent Nintendo characters, the former was definitely part of some kind of aborted ARMS revival campaign (remember that comic that was supposedly still in the works? Yeah, me neither), and the latter had their game go through some lengthy DLC support and also had fan demand on their side.

Also to bring up, several Darkstalkers characters appear in Project X Zone, 3DS games. And the censorship thing flies in the face of SNK Heroines.

Really, the only thing preventing MvC2 from releasing on Switch is laziness. Nothing more, nothing else.

Honestly the number one thing I want the most is a Steam release. Maybe a Switch release if lucky but I’m not putting my eggs in that basket. If this does end up happening I would like a Steam release since I don’t own a PS or XBox of any sort.

Pretty much every fighting game released this generation barring SFV, Tekken, KOF XIV (was definitely planned alongside an Xbox port but neither saw the light of day), KOF XV (probably waiting for later port), USFIV (likely laziness) MvC3 (likely the same case) and MvCI (commercial failure) has been released on Switch, and frankly, the fact that they still release them shows that there's a market for fighters on the system.

Plus, MvC2 is a Dreamcast title, it wouldn't make any sense to not port it to Switch at all.

Yeah, I was thinking the same as well. Remember how people were overtly hyped about Steam Machines and how they'd compete a lot with PS4 and One? Me neither. Dunno if anyone here actually believes this thing will actually beat the living shit out of the Switch and co. in sales or whatever, but I wouldn't approach it with such mentality.

Never thought I'd see the day, but finally, there's a Dr. Octopus with good sprites out there. He doesn't have a taunt and only has one win pose, but otherwise, he's pretty complete as far as moveset goes.

I'm rather happy about Kazuya. It's not Heihachi, but I'll take it over no Tekken content (bar Heihachi mii) at all. And it's funny to think about how everyone was expecting Heihachi or Jin, yet they slept on the original Tekken protagonist all along.

Now, I'm not sure what to think about it. Vergeben hasn't posted leaks in over a solid year, so nobody knows if he stayed in contact with whatever source that told him all the Smash info. On the other hand, his last leak before was rather accurate, as he pretty much leaked the mii costumes from Byleth's presentation mid-Direct. It'd be a pretty ballsy thing for him to do that again. Still, I'm putting this as small food for thought before the direct comes.

Alright, I'm gonna be on the unpopular opinion here, but I'd gladly welcome a Marvel fighter by NRS.

Say whatever you want about their animations or the lack of varied body types, but NRS is one of the top dogs of the fighting game industry, right alongside Capcom and Bamco. Their presentation is always top notch, they already have experience making superhero games, and their titles have a good rep as far as handling pre-launch to DLC. Not to mention, they're pretty much the only non-Capcom studio out there that could possibly work out a Marvel fighter, since Namco does them every once in a blue moon, Arc Sys is filled to the brim with their other games and DLCs, and other studios are probably too obscure or revolve around small anime fighters.

I don't personally think they have any real obstacles, cause they've already worked in a pair of rated-T titles, so that can't be a problem. Same with grim and gritty aethetics 'cause the latest Avengers title is everything but the "colorful, kid friendly title" that some folks believe Marvel will want. Roster decisions the same, because there aren't any concerning disputes about characters anymore. Only real issue is the budget, since MvCI was affected badly by that, and getting good character models with scanned faces from real life people and top-notch voice acting requires a pretty penny that Disney should be willing to lend if they want it.

Also, in the case it's a standalone Marvel fighter, this would be a good chance to include many characters that never got to appear in the MvC series (Loki, Daredevil, Doc Ock, etc.). There's certainly room to include several of those in 25/28-character roster plus whatever kind of DLC plans they could have.

Well, if there's any solace to take up from this is the possibility of more dual announcements. Would make the wait much easier.

There's only one thing that actually intrigues me and that's the fact that King is now in the AoF team. Whoever's joining Mai and Yuri in the Women's team better be someone who hasn't had a spotlight in years.

The problem is, I don't know if I will return.

I no longer have the free time I had years ago. And to that must be added the fact that, after many years, I am realizing that spriting, as much as I may like, is proving to be a waste of time.

What you did for this hobby is remarkable. The effort you (and all of the people you collaborated with) put into all your characters is something that deserves respect and appreciation.

Can't speak for anyone but myself, but I'm hella grateful for everyone you've done. Regardless of whether this is just a pause or truly the end of the line, you left a great legacy in your works and you should feel proud about it.

Beast is great in the sprites, I'm gonna go hunt down bugs if possible, but so far so good.

Yeah, I think I should've worded that better. Breakable TMs already exist in Sword and Shield, but as stated upwards, they're easy as hell to farm, so it's not a problem if you sacrifice an Earthquake TR because you can just get another one anyways.

I was talking about the old "you only get them once" TMs, the type that makes you plan carefully which pokémon are gonna give them to because otherwise, you will never be able to teach the move again.
