IWell, I got caught. I trained an AI to do KofXII style. Not perfect yet, Chamat, can you teach me those methods? I really want to make very very big sprites, that's why I use this method. My resizing skills with photoshop are really bad and they end up blurry and messy. Well, I will remove them and go back to all ways.
Man its been a while since I saw the mugen police go after someone. Meh, nothing wrong with using AI.
I saw this exact same discussion way back in the day when photoshop showed up and all the old school graphic designers felt insulted at how people were doing the same work they did but way faster and many times better. Nowadays not using photoshop (or its competitors) is seen as dumb and inefficient. Photoshop was pretty clunky back then too.
Ye olde ways will eventually die off, always. Good for you for trying to develop new ways to make sprites using modern tools.
Do whatever you want man. Enjoy your hobby and thanks for sharing its results with us.
Who told him that using AI was wrong? Please don't deviate nor devolve the topic. What we didn't want was him lying to us, him thinking we were blind with those blurry jpegs passing them as his own because we know he can sprite. If anything, I showed him how to properly convert an AI jpeg into a sprite. And now, look at that, he did it by his own.
If you think that the AI jpegs he showed can be used as finished sprites, more power to you. The rest of us won't, but you do you.
The gripe I have is with AI spammers that go for hit or miss slop full time, not really admiring or trying to connect with the piece and post it with blatant errors, or avoiding the final step, I can't connect with it if they won't.
But Methiou training the AI is time consuming and with lots of trials and errors, no one is minimizing this fact, it looks accurate. And him hearing what we know to fully convert it to a sprite was the final step of his process.
See? Methiou converted that giant image into a sprite. Plus mine, both versions can be used as portraits or as a keyframe for the win animation.
I don't understand why going with the giant size neither. That could be another style altogether, similar but not really KoF XII. Especially with the newest 8th tone for the darkest shadow.

The latest pixel sprites done by big companies use 3D models, so you can use 3D rips and renders.
Some tips, To avoid blurryness while scaling: Graphics Gale to resize in real time. I always use Paint after I know the scale percentage. Or you can use an advanced software and set it to "Nearest Neighbor".
To limit the palette, I use Fireworks Palette>Adaptive>Set the palette to 7 colors. You can also force a palette in Photoshop, that palette can be created in Fighter Factory. Or you can do it in Fighter Factory by having the (7) tones palette and importing the image.
I can show you 2 methods. One is with Grayscale + Color Separation (Invisible Girl), the other one is with just Color Separation.
