I'd like to rip sprites from the 3 Castlevania games for the DS, and I know that Ideas can disable layers..but I dunno, I've had some shitty luck with that emulator. I don't know if it is incomplete or simply can't run those particular games, but I can't even get past the main menu in those games using that emulator.

Best advice for a noob like me who's knowledge of ripping sprites is limited to disabling layers? :P

  • +1 to whoever added Godzilla to the main index.
Does Unlz-GB work on NDS carts and can it rip that game?
i think we should call it an "engine" so we don't look like total idiots because otherwise we'd be arguing about a "game" and that would be somehow "dumber" than arguing about an "engine" on the "internet" for countless hours

But they hurt much less when we accidentally hit them!  :S

Hmm..just tried that, and it seems to find what I'm sure are sprites, but they appear as totally black images.

Did you try DeSmuMe?  It can disable layers, frame advance while emulation is paused (for getting timings), and record movies (if you have VirtualDub, you can record a movie of what you want to rip, remove extra/unnecessary frames and extract the frames as an image sequence).

Seems to work good, although it keeps saying my save files that work fine on no$gba are corrupt..hmm..

Did a quick search, and this turned up.  Maybe it could help you.

I think I spoke too soon about the emulator working "good". Layer-disabling wise anyway.

Unlike most emulators, I seem to get this problem when disabling layers. I literally have only two layers checked off, yet they count as the lifebar sprite, and everything else on screen? Literally, if I disable MAIN BG 0 the whole screen will turn black..as opposed to say disabling just the floor or just the background.  :S

Crap..

On second thought, I'll just leave what I found here.

Spoiler: Here's an ARDS code that hides/unhides the lifebars (click to see content)

Edit:  Here's the codes I found for it.  Some affect the bg layers to some stages, some affect the bg to others.

Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

This may be incomplete.  Let me know where you can't get the codes to work and I'll look into it.
