So I created an alternate state for Link's launcher which is supposed to use its own command. However, I'm not getting it to activate even though I am using the command I gave it.

CNS state:
;Launcher
[Statedef 425]
type    = S
movetype= A
physics = S
juggle  = 3
poweradd= 45
facep2 = 1
anim = 425
ctrl = 0
velset = 0,0
sprpriority = 2
hitcountpersist =1

[State 420, 1]
type = PlaySnd
trigger1 = animelem=2
value = S125, 1

[State 420, 2]
type = HitDef
trigger1 =! time
attr = S, NA
animtype = Up
damage = 59
hitflag = MAF
guardflag = M
priority = 5, Hit
pausetime = 12, 12
sparkno = S8230
guard.sparkno = S8200
sparkxy = -8, -50
hitsound = S5,2
guardsound = S6,0
ground.slidetime = 30
ground.hittime  = 30
ground.velocity = -1,-13
guard.velocity = -8
airguard.velocity = -8,-1
air.velocity = -1,-14
air.hittime = 35
envshake.time = 7
envshake.ampl = 4
ground.cornerpush.veloff = 0
air.cornerpush.veloff = 0
down.cornerpush.veloff = -8
guard.cornerpush.veloff = -15
airguard.cornerpush.veloff = -15
getpower  = 40
givepower = 20

[State 250, 5]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = MoveContact
trigger1 = !MoveGuarded
trigger1 = command = "holdup"
value = 55650
ctrl = 1

[State 420, 5]
type = ChangeState
trigger1 = AnimTime = 0
value = 11
ctrl = 1

CMD code (User):
[State -1, Launcher]
type = ChangeState
value = 425
triggerall = command = "launcher"
trigger1 = statetype != A
trigger1 = ctrl
trigger2 = stateno = 200
trigger2 = movecontact
trigger3 = stateno = 210
trigger3 = movecontact
trigger4 = stateno = 230
trigger4 = movecontact
trigger5 = stateno = 240
trigger5 = movecontact
trigger6 = stateno = 400
trigger6 = movecontact
trigger7 = stateno = 410
trigger7 = movecontact
trigger8 = stateno = 430
trigger8 = movecontact
trigger9 = stateno = 440
trigger9 = movecontact

Command:
[Command]
name = "launcher"
command = /DB, z
time = 15

So what, if anything, did I do wrong?

Rather than giving it an actual command, try something like this for cmd code...

[State -1, Launcher]
type = Changestate
value = 425
triggerall = command = "z" && command = "holddown" && command = "holdback"
triggerall = statetype != A
trigger1 = statetype = S
trigger1 = ctrl

You might need to put the "command =" stuff in parenthesis if it crashes or doesn't work.

Your command probably doesn't work because it's below simpler commands, place it at the very top of your statedef -1 and it should work.

ThatIdahoGuy

Tried both of those and it's still not working. First time I've ever worked with this kind of command, and I'm sucking before I even get the character that uses it released.

Don't see why it wouldn't work. Divine Wolf's wouldn't because of the statetype = S, but still should work with the current triggers you have.

ThatIdahoGuy

It's weird, it's like it wants to do the launcher when I use the command, but it gets overridden by Crouching HP instead of "DB,Z".

Sometimes MUGEN can be weird with registering commands and all. Even if it is there, it doesn't come out sometimes. :-\ Try erasing it out the cmd, but copy it so you don't lose it. Then save the cmd. Re-apply the launcher coding, then save it again. Also, try this one instead as well...

[State -1, Launcher]
type = ChangeState
value = 425
triggerall = command = "holddownback" && command = "z"
trigger1 = StateType != A
trigger1 = ctrl

Also, place this up higher in the cmd like Rajaa said again. If it still doesn't work... Idk what to tell you. :(

ThatIdahoGuy

There we go. That one worked. Thanks DivineWolf.
