I'd like to add a custom combo in my character which can only be used in a certain groove.
I learnt how to make a groove but not the custom combo  :-X I'm really confused when it comes to this stuff so I'm going to have to ask for some deep help!

If you know how then please reply.

Kinda strange but I woke up today and her hand was on my ass cheek
I won't suspect anything though I'll take it she was sleeping and didn't notice
you should have flipped over slowly

Define what makes a custom combo. What you can do, what you can cancel into what, and so on.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

Like a mode where you can combo any move into any move. For example: V-ISM in SFA3.

I know. I'm telling you : you write down what must be cancelable into what, and all the details.
When you want to code ssomething, you have to know what it is.

Cyanide

About the only thing we can tell you at this moment is that your groove variable will also be the thing that tells you you can cancel said moves.

You're going to have to define how you wish the combo to work a little more if you need additional help.

I know what I want. I just need it the character after it uses the command to change into a state where he/she can cancel any move from any move. Would I need to make the character change to a new .cns? or would I just make a variable which slowly decreases, make seperate commands when it's in the custom combo mode and use the trigger: var(blah blah) = 1?

If so, I think I understand how I need to code it.

QuoteI know what I want.
Then describe it. Just saying "I know what it is" means nothing. Maybe you think you do but you have the wrong idea. And regardless, writing it down always helps you big time to figure out the code you need. See, you just tried to describe it and said "if that's it, then I think I know what the code is". That's the point of writing it down with words.
Quotechange into a state where he/she can cancel any move from any move
Why do you need to go to a state inbetween the two attacks ?

All you need is, if you are in custom combo, then a list of moves are allowed to be performed while you are in a state that is part of another list. That's all, a given move can be triggered while you are in the middle of another move. Doesn't that sound easy to do in the .cmd ?
In any of the moves you want to be able to cancel into, add a trigger "var(X) && stateno = [range of numbers of the states you want to be able to cancel from]" where var(X) is the variable that tells the custom combo is activated.
To know if the custom combo is activated, keep track of the timer with a variable that decreases by 1 every tick.

Ahh.. I see! I think I got the hang of it.
And all I wanted was the character to be able to combo any move into any move and when the character gets hit, the custom combo ends.

Knowing if the custom combo is activated is a different problem.
Just have a variable, set it to a starting value, make it decrease every tick. As long as the value is > 0, you are in custom combo. This is the main trigger to allow any moves to be performed while in any other move. And then if you get hit, you want to get out of it - so you instantly reduce the variable to 0.

Thanks Byakko and Cyanide. This problem would of gone on a little longer if I didn't learn about variables when I had the timebar problem  :P

I'm really angry that somehow my groove coding is gone. I must of not saved it correctly  :-\
Well, I found out that I was doing it wrong anyway so I think I need some help.
I've been looking for tutorals everywhere but, all of them are either confusing or not right.
I looked at some characters who have grooves but, it's not helping me much.

Could someone help?

So in my custom combo I want it to constantly decrease power till it reaches 0. How do I do that?
I think it's something to do with using: (const) or something.

Use a poweradd that triggers only when your custom combo variable is active.

Read the documentations. If you thought it had something to do with, "const," and you looked at the documentation on, "const," you'd know that you were wrong, already. Try harder.

I understand it now.
poweradd = var(blah blah) and in statedef -2 make a variable which decreases by 1.

I'll look in the docs more often by the way.

And now that you're asking a NEW question how about you mark your bloody topic as UNSOLVED so we know you've still got a problem.

It's at the bottom of the page, start using it.

poweradd
Sigh. Read the docs. Now.

It dosen't say how to constantly decrease the power.

What the fuck -_- Make a poweradd that is constantly triggered every single tick.
Can't you make some research ?

The problem with that being if the opponent gives you power from a hitdef.

The way I did it is to set power to a variable and have the variable decrease.

powerset
value = var(_)

varadd
value = -_

Of course there's a ton more you have to do first. Like setting the power up to be 3000 or whatever first, and having both of these only be active during the custom combo.
