So how could I make my after image stop when the character gets hit?

Seriously REALLY read the sctrls.html file. Read it from start to finish. You do not need to memorise it. All you need is a vague idea in your mind that something exists that will do what you want to achieve so you can go and look it up.

Some of the stuff you're asking are incredibly basic features and a simple glance through the PLAIN TEXT file will give you 90% of the answers you need.

Looking at the list of available controllers doesn't help ? When you look at it, what the hell do you think it means when you see one named "afterimagetime" ? Do you or do you not see it when you just look at that list at the top of the file ?
