Hello, not really sure if this is the right place to post it here.
   i'll be finally releasing a rework spriteset of hanma's character, Silvy Garnet. in an attempt for a CvS-style conversion.

Yeah, really took a long while. but i've still kept beliving on able to finish it through this day.
I've also included some GIFs as a guide or reference for her animations. But here's some few samples to showcase so far:

              

I don't have much knowledge about programming a character yet. so i'll leave it here for those who are interested.
I'll continue becoming more of a contributor here in the future. Thank you.

Awesome release man!

But i think that you have to mark/set your resource file/folder as public, as Google Drive is saying that I have negated access to the file.

I understand that feeling. :P
I've been learning about mugen for about 10 years, but just some months ago that I released my chars. And talk about a bunch of fixes I had to do because I was too eager to release something. XD

Again, congratulations for making and releasing this incredible work man.

This is really really cool! Superb work, Pin! Congrats!

I like how comparing Hanma’s original rendition of Silvy to yours that I can see you stuck to keeping it as faithful to the original as you could but also evolving various actions such as certain attacks no longer just being fast motion blur/smearing effects and actually being clear punch and kick motions which help give the sprites that modern upgraded look while retaining the roots of how the original sprites were.

I can see some new sprites like the “burn” and “shock” ones which are neat details in fighting against opponents who have those kinds of elemental attacks, the set of “liedown” sprites is an interesting one and I’m guessing it’s used when getting KO’d by chip damage when guarding, the “inflate” ones are funny though I don’t know the context of why she has that, and the updated “timeover” sprites really give that “Ehh, whatever” feeling as Silvy does that shrugging gesture. The bonus “THANKYOU” sprite is pretty beautiful (hot legs!) and one of my surprise favorites! Another one of my favorites is the “intro6” ones with the updated pose and excited gleaming stars in the eyes look on Silvy’s face. I recall that intro being used when she is facing certain opponents such as Gundam mobile suits as she is a big Gundam fan.

One thing I noticed when comparing your sprites to the original ones is that there is no set of sprites for Silvy when she falls and gets downed/KO’d lying facedown on her stomach. Perhaps that is something you might include in a future update for her?

I’m also in the process of watching through the Operation Fatum videos again to learn more about her and wow, I see you even included the Bicrasher sprites as well. I believe looking off of Hanma’s blog a long time ago, the black Fatum drones seem to only appear in a special private boss version of Silvy (the name is "Master Silvy" or something like that) that Hanma only shared with certain people though I could be wrong.

I also see that the Midnight Bliss of Silvy that I commented before as the “Sexy Scientist” look is actually a direct reference to one of the characters that appears in Operation Fatum. In addition, I also see that the Midnight Bliss of her wearing the outfit of Eve Stein has her actually being her younger self with her red hair reverting to that brown color that is present in the original sprite. Nice touch!

Besides the various edits of Silvy I have seen on YouTube videos with ones like Silvy-M, Silvy-B, Silvy-S, EX Rumia, and derivatives of Silvy like Eve Stein, Kaori Yumiko, and Xue Luo Sheng, I haven’t really seen much of anyone else who has made an edit that still mostly kept everything as faithful to the original version of Silvy as possible while also being a complete revamp with additional new sprites.
 
The only one off the top of my head that is somewhat close is the Silvy edited by OpirusGH300 which seems to be a private edit. In the few videos that Silvy appears in that channel, the most distinctive difference I noticed is that if Silvy gets KO’d in the final round, she gets the ripped clothes treatment, which considering that Silvy is a edit of a KOF character, is a feature that various other KOF girls also have. That could be another idea to add to a future update of Silvy if you want (though I suppose that doesn’t seem to match a CvS style when it’s more of KOF thing).

Honestly, I don’t have any experience in programming these sprites to replace her original ones but I might give it a try in learning how to. Though, I’m sure there is someone out there who is experienced enough to accomplish it and hopefully share it with us all.

Once more, thanks again for your great time and effort in seeing this project through to the end despite it being started 6 years ago. You’re awesome! ^ ^

Going to be a late reply, but Thanks, glad on finding some details on what i could able to find for this character. There's even more stuff that i wasn't aware of before anyway.
I think one of the reasons why i didn't include an down animation facing behind is i believe CvS doesn't have an existing sprites for those which what im following for but i might be wrong.
I think ill try to decide and gather up some stuff to add to make it worthwhile update soon. Have all a nice day

Hello there Pin. Glad I can help. I’m probably noticing those small details as I went into Fighter Factory to check out the individual sprites for the original Silvy and wanted to compare them with the new ones you created. Ohh, I see, so that’s why you opted to not include lying facedown sprites. Thanks again and I’ll be looking forward to any more updates you may provide for Silvy in the future.

(I almost forgot, regarding the various edits of Silvy that I have seen that I mentioned in my previous post, there is one that is basically just Silvy-M but she appears as a striker/helper character for the most updated version of Mr. Kyo. Not really sure why she’s paired up with him but I’m guessing it’s due to the how she is depicted in the role she is playing in the KOF Mark of the Soul series namely the 2nd season episodes you can find on YouTube.

In addition, I feel like having her included as a side striker/helper character could be an attempt in replicating how Nein, a character from the Operation Fatum videos, has an edit (called “New Nein”) in which Silvy appears with him in his intro and she acts as a side support striker character appearing in some special/super attacks. Honestly, I feel it’s more fitting to have Silvy be paired up with Nein considering their experiences in the Operation Fatum series but to each their own.)

When you first posted the sprite sheet, I downloaded it and actually tried my hand at using those sprites to replace the original ones. Not sure if anyone else thought about doing this idea as well but I went ahead and gave it my best shot. Here is my attempt of sorts at it with a link for you and anyone else who may be interested. (It’s my first time uploading something on here to share so apologies if I did it in the wrong format. Just make sure to compile it all into a single folder with “Silvy_Silvan” as the name to match that “Silvy_Silvan” def file.)

Please keep in mind that it is a rough around the edges work in progress prototype that I tried for fun since I wanted to get a visual idea of how this new style of Silvy would look in action against other characters in Mugen but I still have a very limited understanding of how editing stuff works in Fighter Factory so it’s far from perfect but I may still try to update/improve on it if I can manage it.

The base Silvy version I used is the “Silvy_Silvan” one for Mugen 1.1b where she is wearing the seifuku/sailor school uniform outfit and has the Silvan AI installed.

Well, the end result is that it seems to work for the most part since all I did was a “monkey see, monkey do” method of just swapping out the sprites with the CvS style sprites that look most similar to the original appearance.

However, there are places where it looks jarring and not so smooth since a direct 1 to 1 replacement of the original sprites with the CvS sprites isn’t possible due to how some action motions of the original Silvy consist of a different number of sprites when trying to replicate it with the new ones.

Ideally, I wanted to include as many of the various new custom sprites you created, Pin, but considering that you were aiming for a 6 button gameplay style, I really couldn’t do it much at all since the original Silvy’s base gameplay buttons consist of light punch, heavy punch, light kick, heavy kick, dodge, and barrier.
I have no knowledge of how to replace the dodge and barrier button actions with something like medium/fierce punch and medium/fierce kick actions so unfortunately, I could not include those sprite motions in since that’s beyond my expertise at the moment.

I also played around a bit with the palettes and tried replicating ones based off of KOFM Silvy and Silvy-M for the 2nd and 3rd palettes. Unfortunately, to get these different palettes to work, I ended up clicking the “Auto Organize” button when there was a pop-up window saying something about wrong sprite order. From what I can tell, the various special/super beam blade attack sprites were originally placed in between some of Silvy’s attack sprites but now they have all been reordered towards the back with the other effect sprites though from testing the character in Mugen, the beam blade attacks still show up normally.

I think I would continue trying to play around with Fighter Factory in figuring out how more things work so I can gain a better understanding of it all but it still feels way too technical for me to understand fully. 

Trying to completely code all of the custom sprites into a fully new functioning remake of Silvy is out of the question for the time being as I do not have the know-how to pull that off.
Maybe someone else much more experienced than me can use this one I posted as a springboard/reference blueprint in an effort to create that fully new functioning Silvy remake I’m envisioning. Just a hope for the future I suppose.

Yeah, got to try your attempt for the character for awhile, and it's all good.
i mean you did an effort on putting all its sprites and see at least the glimpse on how it looks like in-game anyway.
i'm sure you'll eventually able to understand more about programming a character someday. so that's nice.

Thanks for the feedback there, Pin. Glad to hear that you were able to enjoy it. That was certainly my goal in going for a rough draft demo of sorts in how Silvy would look in action with your CvS sprites.

Going off of the first sprite set of Silvy you released, I really had no idea what else you could add to it considering how comprehensive and detailed you made everything look.

The new normals you included are cool. Simple, efficient, and to the point. Another motorcycle for the Bicrasher sprites, eh? I think there was an old post somewhere in this forum about a release for Bicrasher but from what I understand from the comments in that post, it was a joke character that seemed rather underwhelming. 

I’m surprised that you wanted to make some changes to the “THANKYOU” sprite. I see that there the hair is in a slightly different style besides being shorter and being a brighter shade of red than the first version as well as the ribbon on her hat being the same brighter shade of red. I also noticed a small change to red part on her outfit with a small white ribbon (?) design in the middle of the chest. Hmm, you made her arms thinner and the left leg also appears to be slightly shorter too.
Though, now that I think about it, I feel like with the brighter shade of red to the hair, maybe this is supposed to be her younger twin sister Alty instead of Silvy? Another reason I think this way is that I remember seeing some particular pictures of Alty in which she is pictured with the daikon radishes for some reason. (I think it was something like how you could set her Fatum drone appearance to look like daikon radishes instead. I haven’t actually played with Alty much before so I have no idea if this idea is actually true.) Nevertheless, still a beautiful custom sprite! 

Recreating the final episode’s beam super is pretty cool and I do like how you made it so that it is implied to be very draining/exhausting for Silvy to use such a move considering what looks like the big recoil her arm experiences when she is finished firing in addition to how Silvy is breathing heavily while holding her arm in trying to recover from it.

Hmm, that’s nice to have the “command” animation for her black Fatum drones but considering that Silvy’s normal gameplay doesn’t involve the use of the drones, I kinda wonder how this would be implemented in since it’s usually her sister Alty who uses Fatum drones as her main gameplay style. I’m guessing that it would need to be coded into Silvy’s gameplay commands/actions for her to be able to use the drones.
It’s too bad that the Silvy featured in Operation Fatum isn’t available for download since I’m sure that is a custom version Hanma created for use in the Operation Fatum videos so it probably has all of the bells and whistles of these extra attacks and supers to use. I would totally be down to try out that final episode beam super move as well as the Fatum drone triangle beam shield move which I think is a direct reference to the Nu Gundam’s Fin Funnel beam shield.

Overall, great stuff all around! Thank you for sharing!
