Does anyone know of any emulators (or tools for emulators) which would enable me to disable the music? I am specifically wondering this for any SNES or GBA emulators. As I said, I'd like to just be able to disable music if possible, keeping the sound effects intact.
What games?I don't have any particular method for SNES, but for GBA, one way is to use VBA's cheat utility to search for 8000 (16 bits, hexadecimal) when music is playing and 0 when it isn't (this method will either work, work only if the some/all of the codes are turned on during silence, or work through Artmoney by loading a savestate before the music changes until it shuts the music off.)
not sure about the other emulators, but for zsnes the F keys are used to disable the sound channels (F1-F12, although not all of them disable sound channels)

Nevertheless, I shall try that out!Festus said, June 12, 2009, 07:35:50 pmnot sure about the other emulators, but for zsnes the F keys are used to disable the sound channels (F1-F12, although not all of them disable sound channels)I did not know this! I usually use SNES9X. I shall also try this out. Just tried it! Holy shit it works pretty well! Thanks! Well, I got SNES covered, I shall try the VBA thing later and hopefully have luck with that as well.Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyOn a related note, just so you guys can see why I wanted to be able to do all this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuitbCJ8nzYI enjoy doing gameplay videos, but once in a while it is fun to replace the music. In this case, I changed the original song to a Mega Man X style remix of the Metal Gear Solid theme that I found.
Oh. It may not be of much use to you then. Once you get to a part where the music switches and the codes are on, the music will most likely freeze up.
