Does MUGEN or FIGHTER FACTORY contain viruses? (Read 32315 times)

Does MUGEN or FIGHTER FACTORY contain viruses?

Do any of these things contain viruses? I need to know because my computer is starting to really SLOW down and some of my documents are missing. I've only downloaded WinMugen Plus, Reuban Kee's, ShinRyoga, Muteki, Choujin, Splode and Seanality characters and random stages from "so called" trusted users. Do any of these people or characters contain viruses or spyware or is it Fighter Factory? :(

you should analize anything you download before using it. Try using antispiware programs and a good antivirus like AVG. CCleaner helps a lot too.

I'm going to say no MUGEN and Fighter factory do not have viruses, but for anything it depends on where you downloaded them. The characters and stages you download could very well have viruses in them, so it'd be unfortunate if that is the case.

Also it could be something outside of MUGENing, or it could just be one of those days for your computer to act up.

Just going on the internet makes you the target for many viruses and other nasty things. You need a good anti virus (try Avast) and use Spybot too.

Also, use Firefox, Chrome or Opera as browsers if you aren't already.

That said, if you downloaded Mugen and Fighter Factory from their "official" (original) site, there shouldn't be any problem there ; same with random Mugen characters / stages, if you just unzip them and launch them in Mugen correctly, there's really no reason you should suspect a virus to be in them. Of course, again that's as long as you download them from their "original" site (but you should never really have any reason to go anywhere else anyway, since they're all available on their site, usually).
As for the presence of a virus, it could come from anywhere else, any site you've visited, as said by everyone above.

i don't think mugen characters or stages or any other content can include a virus?? unless they're compressed in an .exe file i guess

You never know, he could be launching a .bat in it since it has the same icon as the .cmd by default :P and anything could be in there, it could turn his computer into a bomb !!! Do you have a Dell, Ashurex ??

i remember checking out a request here in mfg for shin gouki lvl2 by some guy v.75 and some guy linked to it, the thread was by deoxyan and the cmd, i remember had been modded to be a "virus", so if that counts then yes.

but usually no. nod eset antivirus is nice as well. make sure you're not downloading torrents without legitimate protection.

So I McAfee Virus scanned my computer a few days back and guess what; I had more than 2400 viruses on my computer! And guess who put all these viruses on my computer; Winrar! Thats right, WINRAR!!! I know this sounds crazy but hear me out. Apperently, WINRAR put a couple of viruses on my personal emails and copied them. Because I did my banking on my computer earlier, Winrar was able to observe that data using Spyware and stole all my money from my savings account. No joke. All that money I was saving for a car is now stolen.

Whats more is that if you read the installation agreement for installing Winrar, it actually tells you that they are going to install "Spyware" on your computer. This lowers my chances for suing Winrar but I'm going to try it anyways. Just to give all of you Mugenites a heads up, do NOT download WINRAR! Find another way to open RAR files and such before the same happens to you.
